Chapter 45
Emily
Waking up to an Emilypty room had become a familiar sight, and this morning was no exception.
Alessio had left early, as he always did. Fun fact, I had never actually seen him asleep before and had a theory that he might actually be a vampire.
Sharing the bed with him last night wasn’t awkward at all. I felt comfortable around him which was something I could’ve never imagined a few weeks ago.
Truthfully, I didn’t mind him leaving before me because that way he wouldn’t have to see my swollen face in the morning.
After dropping Naty off at school, the mansion felt overwhelmingly large and Emilypty. It seEmilyed like everyone had something to do, except for me. I hated being a maid, and I wasn’t that big on cleaning–but it was better than doing nothing all day.
In the afternoon, I encountered Liza, who had helped me so much in my first week as a maid here. She clearly wasn’t jumping up and down to have a conversation, so I didn’t bother her. If she feared befriending me because of the Fanuccis, I wished I could tell her that she had nothing to fear.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t, and now I had nothing better to do than walk circles around the porch all day. At my fourth lap, I noticed Gian, Dante, and a few others gathered around a truck they had just driven past the gates. I stopped in my steps, watching from a distance as I couldn’t help but be curious about whatever was in that truck.
These people were working all day, but God knows what the hell they were working on.
Gian, who had caught me staring, waved at me cheerfully. “Gigi, what’s up!”
Nothing much, Gigi!” I yelled back, using the nickname that suited him more than it did me. It was still cute that he had given me one.
Dante appeared from behind his brother, greeting me with an even more enthusiastic wave and a thumbs up, before holding his hands to his shoulder as a way to approve of my new hair. It was maybe the tenth time he had done that, and each time he praised my new look, he had managed to make me blush because I hated compliments.
I waved back with a smile, but then I walked further, not wanting to distract thEmily from their work. On my way back inside, I saw Levi leaning against one of the cars. Our eyes met, and I immediately stopped to give him an appreciative smile. As expected, he returned one within seconds.

He had been so kind to us from the beginning, driving Naty, and now Melody, to school every morning, There was never a dull moment with him in the car because he knew how to keep a conversation gang and make someone feel at ease,
At a single glance, you could just tell that he actually didn’t belong here, yet somehow he ended up here, He was different from the rest of the guys. Levi was calm, reserved, and soft. Don’t get me wrong, he looked strong enough to knock out someone if he really wanted to.
“Is it already time to pick up Naty?” He questioned as I stepped closer,
I shook my head, “No, just came to say hi. They have two more hours to go.”
“Then, do you want me to take you somewhere?” he offered.
I hesitated, not wanting to bother him any longer. “I’m good, thanks,” I spoke with pain in my heart, wanting nothing more than to leave this place.
“Yeah, where would you be taking her?” A familiar voice that sounded like nails on a chalkboard ruined the day. “She doesn’t even have friends.”
I whipped my head around to find Donni smirking at his own comment. It didn’t take much for him to annoy me, and I had quickly figured that out. Donní represented everything I disliked in a person. He was rude, disrespectful, and had a poor sense of humor that always seEmilyed to come at someone else’s
expense.
“I have friends,” I retorted, trying to defend my non–existent social life.
“Who, your kid?” Donni shot back, his grin widening.
I felt a sharp pain in my heart when Levi chuckled at his comment, covering his mouth as if I wouldn’t see. My eyes widened for a second due to the betrayal from someone I thought was on my side.
“Emily,” his laughter faded, seeing my reaction. “I’m sorry, that was not funny.”
Screw his apology.
With a scoff, I prepared myself to walk away, but before I could Levi prevented me from doing so by placing his strong hands on my shoulders. “Sorry, sorry, let me make it up to you,” he pleaded with his soft eyes.
“How?”
“Let me treat you to lunch,” Levi decided.
“You know what, lunch does sound nice,” Donni added. He opened the car door and squeezed himself into the passenger seat. “Time is ticking, so we should hurry before those two little satans finish with

school
I gasped, realizing he was putting Naty on the same level as Melody, Impossible.
Levi and I shared a look, and I could tell we were both thinking the same thing, We would rather not have had him there, but what choice did we have?
Defeated, and with a sulky expression on my face, I climbed into the backseat.
