Chapter 55
Dante’s POV
The salty tang of the ocean filled the air as we stepped onto the yacht. The vessel wasn’t that big, it was one of our smaller yachts. Comfortable enough for a two hour journey.
Its sleek white body glinted under the sun, and the deck was outated with plush seating, shaded areas, and polished wood floors. But despite its beauty, I could feel Valencia tensing beside me.
Her grip on Castor tightened as I led her to one of the cushioned seats near the railing. She sat stiffly, her eyes darting toward the endless expanse of water surrounding us.
“Are you okay?” I asked, placing a gentle hand on hers.
She gave me a strained smile, her lips pressed tightly together. m fine,” the murmured, but the way her shoulders hunched betrayed her discomfort.
As the yacht began to move, the gentle rocking of the waves seemed to magnify her unease. Her complexion paled, and I noticed the faint sheen of sweat forming on her brow.
“Valencia,” I said softly, concern creeping into my voice. “You’re not fine. Talk to me.”
She shook her head, squeezing her eyes shut as if that would block out the movement of the boat.
Her breathing quickened, and I felt a flicker of panic through our bond. Glancing around, I noted that dad, Joseph, Caius, and Marcelene were all preoccupied.
Joseph and dad were bent over a thick stack of documents, their hushed voices barely audible over the hum of the yacht’s engine. Caius and Marcy sat further away, Caius lost in his thoughts and Marcy frowning down at her phone.
Seeing that no one was paying attention, I focused on Valencia. Without making it obvious, I began channeling my spiritual energy into her, letting the warmth of irseep through our bond
Honestly, even I wasn’t completely sure how this all worked, just that my instincts told me to do this and I did it. Calling it spiritual energy was just something I had decided off the top of my head.
It was subtle–just enough to steady her nerves without drawingattention.
But dad noticed.
He closed the file in his hands with a soft thud, his sharp eyes narrowing as they zeroed in on the connection between me and Valencia. His jaw tightened, and I felt the warning in his glare
I bit back the anger rising in my chest. Not now. I couldn’t let Valencia sense it. I pressed down on the string of our bond, muting the emotion before it could ripple through.
Dad’s gaze lingered for a moment longer before he turned to Joseph.
Joseph cleared his throat, drawing everyone’s attention. “We need to go over a few things before we reach Norsor Isle,” he began, his deep voice commanding the space.
I shifted slightly in my seat, keeping Valencia close to me.
“This meeting with the Supernatural Council isn’t just about Caspor,” Joseph continued. “The goal here is to keep the focus solely on the three of you–Dante, Valencia, and your child–and away from the Steele pack as a whole. We cannot afford unnecessary scrutiny on the packhouse or its leadership.”

Valencia stirred beside me, her head resting against my shoulder. Her lips were parted slightly, and a faint frown creased her brow. She was trying to relax, but the cold sweat on her temples betrayed her lingering discomfort.
I could tell she was listening though.
Joseph’s tone sharpened. “The first thing they’ll ask about is you mother, Dante. We’ll need to be honest about Aurora being a dragon. The story is simple–Aurora and Raiden met twenty–five years ago, married to protect her, and had no reason to believe the dragon genes would pass down since you and Caius were born as wolves.”
I nodded, already familiar with this truth.
Joseph’s eyes flicked to Castor, nestled safely in the carrier strapped to my chest. “As for your child,” he said, his voice softening slightly, “they will ask about how you and Valencia me They may probe for details, but you must tell the complete truth here. Any discrepancies could escalate the situation.”
I stiffened, my grip on Valencia tightening. The thought of Valencia being questioned about our one–night stand made my stomach churn. But Joseph was right–this wasn’t just about us. I was about protecting the pack. Didn’t mean I had to like it.
Dad cut in, his tone curt. “And that means you cannot draw attention to details that shouldn’t be noticed. Like what you’re doing right now.”
I followed his gaze to my hand, still resting on Valencia’s. My spiritual energy was flowing into her, faint but constant.
I stopped slowly reducing it,narrowing my eyes at him.
Someone who knows what to look for will notice,” Dad said, his voice low but firm. “This little magic trick of yours needs to stay hidden from the council.”
1 frowned, my jaw tightening. “You told me to follow my instincts.” I said, keeping my voice steady. That’s what I’m doing. Is this something the council will recognize?”
Dad shook his head. “Instincts are one–thing,” he said. “But what you’re doing isn’t normal. It’s not something most dragons can learn to do, let alone in such a short amount of time.”
He glanced down at Valencia, his expression unreadable. “I told you this before, but the fact that you healed her so quickly, with such a severe wound, is nothing short of miraculous. We need them to see that we’re harmless–not that we’re hiding unknown powers.”
His words carried a weight that settled heavily in my chest.
“I understand,” I said finally, though the words felt hollow.
His gaze softened, but his tone remained firm. “This isn’t about what you want, Dante. It’s about what we need to do to
survive.”
I knew he was right. But the frustration gnawed at the, an itch I couldn’t scratch. There was more he wasn’t–telling me–1 could feel it.
I looked down at Valencia, her face pale and damp with sweat/Despite her discomfort, she was holding on, her fingers gripping Castor’s shell like it was her lifeline.
My grip on her tightened as I pulled her closer, letting my warmth envelop her. For now, I stopped the flow of spiritual energy. I couldn’t risk drawing more attention to us.
But as I held her, one thought lingered in my mind.
Raiden might have a plan, but that didn’t mean I trusted it.

line.
