Chapter 27
Chapter 27
Valencia’s POV
1 saw Dante’s blue eyes flash golden for a brief moment before returning to normal. Instinctively, I took a step back, putting as much distance between us as I could manage without outright running.
“I was told you wouldn’t be present today,” he said, his voice smooth but carrying a dangerous undertone that made my stomach churn. “I’m happy to see they were wrong.”
A smile tugged at his lips, but there was a glint in his eyes that made me feel like prey.
I forced myself to look away and nodded slightly to his father and brother, who were approaching behind him. “I will be excusing myself, then,” I said, my voice as polite as I could make, even as my instincts screamed at me to flee.
Before I could leave, his hand clamped around my wrist, making me freeze
“Why don’t you join us?” Dante asked, his tone deceptively light, but his grip firm.
Panic prickled at the edges of my mind. My stomach churned violently, and I felt another sharp cramp. bit my lip to stifle the pain and forced a weak smile. “I apologize. I’m feeling a little sick at the moment.”
For a moment, his hold tightened, and his jaw clenched as his eyes darted around the hallway. Then he sighed and released me. That’s unfortunate. I was hoping to talk to you in private.”
Before I could respond, another voice cut in.
“It’s not appropriate for my sister, an unmated Omega, to be speaking with you in private. Especially since you aren’t engaged yet.”
Aiden’s voice was cold and firm as he stepped between us. His gaze locked on Dante’s hand, which had just released my wrist, and he bristled with barely concealed hostility.
“Let’s head upstairs so we can get down to business, Aiden conmued, ignoring the tension crackling in the air.
1 staggered back, almost pressing myself against the wall as the two Alphas stared each other down. The pressure in the hallway was suffocating, and my legs felt like they might give our beneath me
“Valencia, you can go to your room,” Aiden said, turning to glance at me.
Grateful for the reprieve, I nodded quickly and turned to leave, but Dante’s voice stopped me in my tracks.
“She’s sick, though,” he said, his tone laced with concern. “Shouldn’t we take her to the infirmary? You do have an infirmary. right?”
I cursed inwardly.
“Turn around,” Aiden ordered.
I hesitated but forced myself to face him. Honestly with how bad the cramp was, it was hard for me to even walk properly. I felt tears prickle my eyes.
His brow furrowed as he studied my pale face. “What’s wrong with you?”
How the hell was I supposed to know?
“I’m fine,” I lied, my trembling smile doing little to convince anyone. “It’s just a little stomach ache, I’ll be okay.”

Aiden wasn’t convinced. He reached for my wrist again. “Come on. We’re going to the infirmary”
“No!” I blurted out, yanking my arm back. “I’ll be fine. Really”
His frown deepened, but before he could argue further, Dante reached for my other wrist, his voice calm but laced with
irritation.
“Why do you keep running away!”
The exasperation in his tone was almost enough to distract me on the fact that yet another Alpha was grabbing me.
BUZT
1 gritted my teeth, ignoring the pain in my abdomen as the cran subsided. “I’m not running away. You’re here to meet the Alphas. I’m just trying not to hinder you.”
His lips quirked into a small smirk, his disbelief evident.
“But I’m here to meet you,” he said bluntly, his words sending a jolt of confusion through me.
“What?” I blinked, dumbfounded. “Why?”
Before he could answer, a commanding voice interrupted.
“What is going on here?”
Alpha Roman stood at the end of the hallway, his sharp gaze flicking between Dante, Aiden, and me.
Aiden quickly stepped forward, explaining the situation, while shrank back against the wall, wishing I could disappear. Roman’s gaze lingered on me briefly before he nodded. “Come on, then. Let’s move to the hall on this floor instead.” I bit back a groan. Why couldn’t they just let me go?
Moments later, we were seated on the plush velvet couches in one of the smaller lounges. The weight of Dante’s gaze left me since we entered the room, and iny heart pounded painfully in my chest.
hadn’t
A maid appeared with a tray, setting down a mug of warm honey water in front of me. Dante had ordered it for my cramps and the gesture only heightened my anxiety.
I honestly didn’t know whether to cry or laugh.
I sipped the drink slowly, hoping it would calm my racing pulse too, but his unrelenting stare made it impossible to relax. Finally, Alpha Roman broke the silence.
“I’d like to ask again, just to be certain. Are you truly willing to take someone like her as your mate?”
My breath hitched as Dante’s gaze snapped to Roman. His voice was low and dangerous as he repeated, “Like her?”
Lethia, of course, wasted no time interjecting. “A bastard, non–virgin, infertile Omega
The words struck like daggers, and 1 felt a familiar tremble in my chest. But I didn’t respond. I just bit my lips and looked -down at the swirling drink.
This was good. I didn’t want to marry Dante. If they thought I was undesirable, maybe they’d call it off.
A sharp crash made me jump. My eyes flew to Dante, who was glaring at Lethia, his clenched fists dripping blood from where the shards of his shattered glass had cut into his skin.

Chapter 27
“You will not speak about my future wife so disrespectfully,” he growled.
Future wife?
My chest tightened as he continued, his voice filled with unwavering conviction. “I will only have her as my wife. No one else.”
The room fell silent, the tension thick enough to suffocate.
A sudden memory crawled to the forefront of my mind. Jaxon whispered sweet nothings in my ear right before we were going to say our wedding rows. He had also said something simr. “I will only have you as my mate. No one else” He had whispered. Now that I thought about it, wasn’t the day after tomorrow our wedding anniversary in the past? That was the day I got married to him, just a month after our engagement.
Lethia scoffed, rising from her seat. “Do whatever you want,” she muttered, I looked up to find her storming out of the hall. In the next second a maid entered quickly clearing the shards of glass that Dante had broken.
My eyes wandered to his palm, and as expected of an Alpha, it had already healed. The wound was gone as though never
there.
Roman coughed, his expression unreadable. “I see. If you’re certain, then we can set a date for the engagement.”
Before anyone could respond, Dante’s father spoke up. “There’s no need for that.”
I blinked in confusion as Dante stood, walking toward me with a small black box in his hand. My stomach dropped as he knelt before me, opening the box to reveal an ornate gold and silver engagement ring with a big diamond situated in the middle.
The design was honestly beautiful’enough to distract me from my current predicament.
“May I?” he asked softly, his eyes locking onto mine. Which finally snapped me out of my stupor
The room was deathly silent.
I could feel everyone’s eyes on me–Roman, Aiden, Jaxon, Especially Jaxon, who looked ready to explode.
“She seems a little reluctant,” Jaxon began, his tone mocking. I glanced up and seeing his smug expression made anger boil
within me.
“Yes,” I blurted out, cutting
him off before I could think better of it
The smug grin fell from Jaxon’s face, replaced by a dark scowl as Dante softly took my hand in his and slid the ring onto my ring finger.
I peek at him and my cheeks heat up instantly as I find his lips quirked up in a smile, his eyes already gazing into me.
I clenched my fists, my heart pounding. What had I just done?
Alpha Raiden broke the silence. “As my son has already prepared the engagement ring, we’ll move forward with the wedding plans.”
Roman sat up straighter. “What timeline are you suggesting?”
“A month should be enough time for preparations,” Roman offered.
Dante shook his head. “That’s unnecessary. The preparations are complete. Let’s have the wedding on Friday.”
“This Friday?” I burst out, unable to contain my shock. Wasn’t that the day after tomorrow?

No.
Not again.
Dante glanced at me, frowning. “Do you have something planned? We can move it to Thursday if that’s better.”
Thursday? Is he a psycho? Isn’t that tomorrow?!
