Valencia’s POV
Her eyes softened briefly, and then Marcelene deadpanned, “I think you need to see a psychiatrist, Vi. It’s probably just bloating Happens to me all the time”
I sighed as the cramp subsided, a dull ache now instead of the rp pain from before. She was right, of course. I’d been pregnant before in my past life, and I remembered the kicks of my last child vividly.

Marcelene chuckled softly, a sound that made me glance up at her. She was squatting beside me, her expression amused bur not mocking. “You’re not embarrassing,” she said, standing and holding out a hand.
1 grabbed it and we began walking toward the car park.
“So… I heard little miss Kallistar is getting married to the Steele Pack heir,” Marcelene said casually, her tone light but her eyes watching me closely.
Lfrowned. “How come you call her ‘Miss‘ and not me?”
She rolled her eyes. “That’s what you hooked on? Weren’t you the one who dismissed all proprietary first?”
I laughed despite myself. “Right. Sorry. Yeah, I think so. Celeste doesn’t approve yet, though.”
Marcelene hummed thoughtfully. “Does it matter if she agrees or not? No offense, but you rich people don’t seem to care much about that”
I stopped walking, my brows furrowing. “They don’t… but don’t Jump me in with ‘those people.“”
“Right, Miss Bastard Child,” she said without mockery or disdain, just a simple statement, a fact well known. “So, will you help her if she doesn’t consent?”
Her words caught me off guard, and I froze, my mind racing. “What could I even do?” I finally answered.
Marcelene shrugged. “You could try. Sometimes even the flutter of a butterfly’s wings can cause a tornado, you know.” We settled into her car, and as she started the engine, I turned to her. “Can we head to the mall?”
She glanced at me briefly but didn’t ask any questions, simply nodded and pulled onto the main road. Being with Marcelene felt… easy. She probably already guessed why I wanted to go.
The day passed quickly, and by the time I returned home, the sun was dipping below the horizon, painting the mansion in hues of amber and gold. I carried my shopping bags toward my room, my thoughts still swirling around the dress I’d bought.
In my past life, Lethia had gifted me a hideous brown ruffled gown for the Blue Moon Festival–a Victorian–style monstrosity that had made me the laughingstock of my peers. The memory of Jaxon’s cruel words burned fresh in my mind even now. “Why couldn’t you wear something like Celeste? Why do you have to be so dull?”
This time, things would be different. Celeste was planning to wear a white tulle dress with a flower crown. I’d chosen something far better. Perhaps I was being petty, but I didn’t care

As I turned the corner toward my room, a force showed me hard against the wall. My shopping bags tumbled to the floor at two arms caged me in. The scent of cedar and smoke filled my mes–Jazon.
“What are you doing, Jaxon?” I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.
He sneered, his dark eyes narrowing “Finally back? Went to where yourself out again?”

A sudden crash sounded nearby, and I turned to see a maid stumbling backward. Her eyes widened before she spun around and fled down the hall

I wanted to laugh at the irony. He was the one who had betrayed me first, the one who had turned to others. His ego was bruised, not his heart. This wasn’t love–it was ownership.
