Chapter 151
Chapter 151
Valencia’s POV

I narrowed my eyes, my fingers curling against the desk, “What exactly did she say? Tell me the exact words. I know you remember them”
Alpha Selene sighed, tilting her head slightly as though exasperated. “Why do you insist on making things so difficult for yourself, childr
I didn’t respond.
I simply watched her, my silence demanding an answer.
After a brief hesitation, she relented.
Her voice turned quiet, almost reluctant as she recalled, “This world has no need for a creature with the blood of a traitor. Such beings deserve to…
My heart slammed against my ribs, my breathing unsteady. A strange, suffocating pressure settled in my chest, making it harder to stay still.
I forced the words out, though they trembled on my lips. “D–deserve to….?”
Alpha Selene’s lips pressed into a thin line before she hurriedly finished the sentence, “Deserve to be buried alive underground.”
A violent shudder ran through me.
The room suddenly felt too small, too suffocating, as if the walls were closing in. I clenched my fists.
A thick silence followed her words, swallowing every ounce of sound between us. Neither of us spoke for a long moment.
I couldn’t.
I was barely holding myself together, barely managing to keep my trembling hands under control.
Breathe.
I had to breathe.
I swallowed against the lump in my throat, forcing myself to stay composed. Finally, after a few steadying breaths, I met her gaze again, my voice firmer than I felt.
“We’re going to unmask her in front of everyone,” I said, my nails biting into my palm. “Will you cooperate with us to bring her to justice for every life she has taken?”
Alpha Selene watched me carefully.
I could tell she had been expecting this.
“Sweetheart—”
I cut her off, my patience snapping.
She knew.
She had known that Lethia was a killer. She had known the suffering she caused–known about the lives she had destroyed

and yet she did nothing?

I refused to hear more excuses.
“Yes or no?” I demanded.
She hesitated, her brows furrowing slightly before she finally sighed.
“Yes,” she admitted.
Relief washed over me for a moment, but it was short–lived as she added, “However, I can only help with her sentencing so much. And only if her crimes are revealed to everyone–not hidden under wraps.”
A bitter chuckle escaped me.
“You needn’t worry about that. We’ll make sure every single creature in the supernatural world becomes aware of what she’s done… to the point that she’ll be unable to escape her crimes.”
Selene’s lips curled into something between a smile and a grimace. “Then I pray for your success.” She glanced down at the watch on her wrist, as though reminding herself of the time.
I took a deep breath, gathering my thoughts before speaking again.
“Thank you for your time, Alpha.”
I paused.
“…One last question.”
Her gaze lifted to mine again, patient but cautious. “Go ahead.”
I hesitated for only a second before asking, “What did Lethia mean by the blood of a traitor‘?”
The words had haunted me ever since Lilliana had spat them at me in the meeting room. At first, I assumed she had been referring to my mother–Blaire–betraying Lethia by sleeping with her husband. But then, Lethia had said the same thing to my mother.
Which meant… it had to be something deeper.
Something that went beyond my mother’s generation.
Alpha Selene stilled.
For the first time since this conversation began, I saw a flicker of something uncertain in her eyes.
She hesitated. “I’m not sure.”
Liar.
I tilted my head, offering her a knowing smile.
“Alpha… I may be inexperienced, but I do know when someone is lying to me.” I met her gaze, unwavering. “However, if you don’t wish to tell me, then I won’t insist.”
She studied me for a long moment before sighing.
“You’re strange,” she murmured, almost amused. “Working so hard to help your husband avenge his parents and uncover the past… but when it comes to your own past, you are truly selfless,”

No.
I wasn’t.
I wanted to know.
I was barely holding myself back from demanding the truth.
But I knew my limits.
I knew that pushing too hard could cost me the little trust she was willing to offer. And considering she might already be risking offending her own higher–ups… it was a miracle she had told me this much.
After all, I was a mere Omega, my position as the Steele Pack Luna was of little consequence against her own as the commanding Alpha.

She sighed again. “I’m not hiding it because of any grand conspiracy, Valencia. It’s just… something that won’t help you. In fact, it might make things even more difficult for you.”
I frowned. “Difficult how?”
Her expression darkened slightly. “It could strain your relationship with your husband.”
That made me pause.
Dante?
How would my past–something that happened before I was even born–affect my relationship with him?
My fingers curled tighter in my lap. “…Did my mother or her family do something?”
Selene shook her head. “No. It goes much further back than that.”
Her eyes studied me carefully, as if debating whether she should tell me at all.
“…Centuries ago, in fact.”
My heartbeat quickened.
I swallowed hard. “What are you trying to say, Alpha?”
She exhaled, her voice steady.
“Your ancestor… was a traitor to her kind.”
“… Her kind?” I repeated, barely above a whisper.
Selene’s gaze didn’t waver. “She wasn’t a wolf.”
I sucked in a sharp breath.
Not a wolf?
What the hell was she saying?
But before she could elaborate, a sharp ringing interrupted our conversation.
Selene glanced at her phone, her face shifting from mild surprise to alarm.

Her entire demeanor changed in an instant–her posture stiffening, her lips pressing into a firm line.
“Sorry, sweetheart,” she said hastily, already reaching for the device. “I have to go.”
“Wait
But before I could get another word in, the call disconnected.
I sat there, staring at the blank screen, my mind reeling.
Something was wrong.
Her reaction… the way she had frantically cut the call…
Who could have been calling her that made her react that way?
I tried to calm the racing thoughts in my head, but my hands were already trembling.
No.
Forget the call.
What the hell had she meant?
Not a wolf?
My mother–our entire bloodline–descended from something else?
Traitor’s blood…
What had my ancestors done?
And why did their sins still follow me centuries later?
Why did Lethia, her maid, and even Alpha Selene know about it–while I had been left completely in the dark?
A deep, unsettling unease settled in my chest.

I suddenly had the sickening feeling that I was standing at the edge of something far, far greater than I had ever imagined.
And I wasn’t sure I was ready to uncover it.
