Chapter 150
Chapter 150
Valencia’s POV
Alpha Selene’s lips curled into a wry smile, though there was something tired in her expression–like someone who had seen far too much, carried far too many burdens.
“Unfortunately,” she said, her voice quieter now, “I am aware of all the happenings inside the wolf packs. So yes, I knew.”
A frown tugged at my lips. I hesitated for only a second before asking, “I apologize if this seems rude, but… why didn’t you intervene?”
She shook her head almost instantly, her dark hair catching the soft light filtering through her curtains. “Don’t apologize. You have every right to ask. I should have done something. I wanted to do something. But I wasn’t allowed to.”
I blinked. “Allowed?”
She sighed, leaning back in her chair. “This is something I am only sharing with you because I know you’re smart enough to keep it under wraps.” Her eyes met mine, sharp and assessing. “Valencia, you must understand something–even we have our own higher–ups.”
A cold shiver ran down my spine
Higher–ups? The SNC?
Lilliana’s words from the dungeon echoed in my mind for the hundredth time.
“They have powerful backing…. You’ll be dead before you even get the chance to lay a finger on my Mistress.”
Lethia wasn’t acting alone. She had someone backing her.
At first, I had assumed it might have been Roman. That he had been the one pulling the strings, covering her tracks, protecting her. But… was I being too naive?
Was it someone even more powerful than the SNC? How else would the commanding Alpha be unable to intervene?
A pit formed in my stomach.
Just how deep does this corruption go?
“Valencia?” Alpha Selene’s voice pulled me out of my spiraling thoughts.
I quickly straightened my posture, trying to mask the unease creeping up my spine. I had called her for answers–but now, wasn’t sure if I was walking into something far bigger than I had prepared for.
I pursed my lips, hesitating.
If Alpha Selene was under the control of someone else, someone who had covered up Lethia’s crimes to protect her, then was it safe to reveal our plan?
Was I playing with fire?
“Are
you worried that I will tell someone about this?” she asked, her tone knowing.
I stiffened slightly, but she didn’t look offended. Instead, her expression softened, as though she understood my dilemma.
“If this discussion is related to what happened back then,” she continued, “I would like to assure you that whatever is said here will stay between us.”

Chapter 150
I studied her for a long moment, searching for any sign of deception, any flicker of dishonesty in her gaze.
She looked… genuine.
I bit my lip, still uncertain.
There was one way to know for sure if I could trust her.
85%
I exhaled slowly, then asked, “Alpha… may I ask something first? What really happened to my mother? Did she actually die giving birth to me?”
If she told me the truth, I could risk sharing some of my plans. If not… I would have to rethink everything.
Her expression faltered slightly, and she sighed. “If you insist on knowing, then I will tell you.” She hesitated before adding, “However, Valencia, I should warn you.. some things are better left buried. Your life is going well right now. Why insist on digging up the past?”
I smiled faintly, but there was no humor in it.
“Our past is too deeply connected to our future, Alpha. If the roots are rotten, the tree will never flourish.” My voice remained steady despite the storm brewing inside me. “I’m just trying to dig out the rot–so that in the future, my son and my family can live their lives without regret. Without shadows following them.”
I met her gaze head–on.
“I’m sure you can understand that.”
Something flickered across her face. A brief but undeniable moment of recognition.
She swallowed, nodding slowly.
“…Okay then,” she murmured.
The next words that left her mouth shattered something inside me.
“No, Blaire didn’t die giving birth to you.”
I froze.
A cold wave washed over me, my fingers clenching into fists on my lap.
“She was alive?” My voice came out in a whisper.
“She was,” Selene confirmed. “In fact, she lived quite a while after that. You… were separated from her as soon as she gave birth. But Blaire herself was alive until you turned three.”
A sharp ringing filled my ears.
I barely registered the way my breath hitched, the way my entire body went still.
Three years?
She was alive for three years–and I never knew?
No. Whether she died when I was born or three years later. I wouldn’t have remembered her either way.
“What… what happened to her?” I forced out.
Selene exhaled, rubbing her temples. “She vanished.”

I stared at her.
“Vanished?” I repeated, my voice hoarse.
85%
“She disappeared,” Selene said, her voice strained. “I couldn’t find her. Not in the apartment Drogo had given her. Not in the pack house where she usually worked. I asked around, but no one knew where she had gone.”
I shook my head. “That doesn’t make sense. If she had simply left, there would have been rumors. Someone would have seen her.”
Especially considering she was Drogo’s ‘mistress‘
Selene nodded grimly. “I thought the same.”
She took a deep breath, her expression darkening.
“Until one day, Lethia requested an audience with me.”
My stomach twisted violently.
Selene’s jaw tensed. “I was newly appointed back then–still adjusting to my responsibilities. My days were far busier than they are now. It took a while before I could actually meet with her. But when I did…” She trailed off, her fingers tightening around the teacup.
I leaned forward. “What?”
Her lips pressed into a thin line. “Her demeanor was unlike any other wolf I had met. It was… off. Wrong.”
“She was disrespectful, wasn’t she?” I guessed, my voice sharp.
Selene let out a quiet chuckle, but there was no humor in it. “You could say that. She didn’t even bother with formalities. She told me, very plainly, to stop looking for Blaire. That I wouldn’t find her. That she wasn’t coming back.”
I clenched my teeth.
Selene’s hands tightened into fists, her tone growing colder. “I was furious. I demanded she tell me what she had done.”
Her next words sent ice through my veins.
“…But my Alpha command didn’t work on her.”
I sucked in a sharp breath.
That was impossible.
A pack Alpha’s command reigns supreme. Their wolves–especially those born in their pack–have no choice but to obey. It was a law of nature, a fundamental part of our hierarchy.
But Alpha Selene wasn’t just any Alpha.
She was the commanding Alpha of all wolf packs.
If her command didn’t work on Lethia, then…
My pulse pounded in my ears. “That shouldn’t be possible.”
Selene nodded. “I thought the same. But it was as if she was… protected. Shielded by something I couldn’t touch.”
Her next words shattered the final piece of my lingering doubt.

“She looked me in the eye and said, very clearly–Ikilled her.”
The room felt suffocating.
For the first time in my life, I thought I might actually be sick.
I had suspected it. Deep down, I knew it. But hearing it confirmed–hearing it from the lips of someone who had witnessed
it firsthand–felt like a knife to the gut.
Lethia killed my mother.
