Chapter 240
Chapter 240
“Lila, what the fuck is wrong with you? You almost gave me a heart attack!”
“You almost gave me a heart attack when I came in here ten minutes ago to find you still sleeping! I gave Stephen your number, he says he’ll be here in about thirty minutes so good luck trying to get ready before that time. I’m going out with Arthur but I’ll be back later tonight, don’t forget to give me all the details and please use protection, your dad will murder Stephan, myself and Arthur if you get pregnant. Wear the cropped purple hoodie, it’ll fit you.” Lola said before slipping out of my bed and heading out of my room.
I was frozen in place trying to make sense of all the things she had just said. They came to me at once, I blushed first then giggled, and then it seemed to hit me. Stephan would be here in less than thirty minutes and I wasn’t ready yet.
I hurriedly made my way into the bathroom and after the fastest shower I had ever taken, I dashed out and began pulling out the clothes. I lingered for a moment on the cropped hoodie, trying to think if it was something I wanted to wear but when I pulled it over my head and it fits perfectly over the jeans I had picked out, I hummed in satisfaction and chose to go along with it. I didn’t have the time to go through several other options.
I brushed out my hair for a minute and contemplated what to do with it, but when I heard the doorbell ring, it forced me into action, I pulled it into a messy bun, leaving out some pieces to frame out my face and I had already begun making my way out of the room hurriedly to open the door but I rushed back in and pulled out a gloss, applying it on my lips before looking in the mirror and smiling at the result of it all.
I looked beautiful, I couldn’t remember the last time I had seen my face look this bright and beautiful. I couldn’t tell what had changed but I loved it. The doorbell rang one more time and I dashed out to answer it, pulling it open.
“HI, Ste-” My words got stuck in my throat.
I was staring at Simon and with the way his eyes widened in shock, he probably had not been expecting me to open the door or maybe it was something else because I watched as his Adam’s apple bopped in a swallow before he cleared his throat and looked away.
“Hello, I’m here for lil-”
“Oh babe is that you? I didn’t know you were so close.” Lila said from behind me and I stepped out of the way so he could enter the house.
“Goddess, Jess you look so beautiful. I knew it was going to be perfect! Babe, what do you think, doesn’t she look different?” Lila asked and Arthur blinked rapidly like he had not been expecting the question and sincerely, neither was I.
I didn’t wait for him to provide an answer though, I cleared my throat and began making my way toward my room.
“I think I’m going to finish dressing up,” I responded.
The next time the doorbell rang it was Stephan and by the time I came out of the room to pull open the door it was to find Arthur and Lila gone.
“Hey, Jes… wow, y–you look amazing,” Stephan said as I pulled open the door and I giggled.
“Thanks, you don’t look too bad yourself.”
“I’m sorry I got here late, had to run some last–minute errands for Arthur.”
The idiot.
“It’s fine. Come on, let’s go.” I responded, pulling the door shut behind me.
“Soo, as you can already tell, it’s not exactly a big pack. Arthur says you’re from the Silvermoon Pack and that’s bigger compared to this so there might not be many places for you to see but lucky for you I know a lot of cool spots.” He said as we

began walking down the street.
I winced at the lie, thankful for the darkness that was starting to take over the clouds. I didn’t think he would know everything about me so soon but I should have expected that especially since he was the Beta of the pack, I just felt terrible that the basics he thought he knew about me were all complete lies. I cleared my throat before speaking again
“That’s great. H–have y–ou been to the Silver Moon Pack before?” I asked and he nodded his head.
“Once, but that was a long time ago. I still have family there but distant family so I used to visit them a lot but not anymore? He said and although everything in me wanted to ask, I didn’t.
“What about you?” He suddenly said.
“Your family, what about your family? You don’t really strike me as the black sheep. Most people here that are alone just abandon their families or run away and don’t feel bad for it because they are used to being disappointments, or they just know that no one cares enough to look for them if they leave. You look like you’re from a family where you’re valued, you know, where it might hurt at least one person to see you go.” He said and I swallowed.
If only he knew.
“Well, not really. I mean they care but you know more adventure, they understand.”
Uncle Smith always told me how shit of a liar I was, he said I got it from my mother and advised me to always tell half the truth instead of flat out lie because I would always be caught if I lied, I tried to do that most of the time because I realized early enough that he was right. Whenever I tried to tell a lie, I always ended up being caught somehow.
