“Hello, is this the property management office? I want to sell everything. Donate every penny to a women’s foundation that supports women who want to leave their marriages but can’t, whether because of children or financial struggles.”
In just an hour, everything was packed and shipped off.
Afterward, Freya focused on packing her own belongings.
She was halfway through when Jack suddenly barged in.
Rain clung to him like a second skin; he hadn’t even bothered to grab an umbrella. Soaked and shivering, he stormed into the room, his eyes frantic with desperation.
He didn’t bother changing out of his wet clothes as he rushed to her side, his voice shaking.
“Addie, why did you sell ‘Freya’?”
Freya gripped her chest with her right hand, the agony so intense it left her breathless.
Jack finally noticed something was wrong and rushed over in concern. “Addie, what’s going on?”
The anxiety in his eyes seemed sincere, as though her collapse would take him down with her.
Yet, this same man, who professed his deep love for her, had concealed so many truths from her.
Forcing herself to remain composed, she steadied her voice. “It’s nothing… just a spasm.”
Jack immediately placed his hand over her chest, trying to soothe her pain. After triple-checking that she was alright, he quickly took her back home to rest.
On the way, he worked hard to lighten the mood, sharing funny anecdotes to make her smile.
But no matter how much he tried, Freya couldn’t summon any joy.
Leaning against the car window, she silently observed the scenery blur by, her face unreadable.
“Addie, did I do something wrong?” he asked cautiously, testing the waters.
“No,” she finally replied. “I was just thinking about a show I watched today.”
Jack exhaled in relief and smiled, eager to follow her lead. “What show?”
Freya slowly turned her face toward him, her gaze locking with his.
“It’s about a man who once loved a woman deeply, but later… he lost his love. He kept it from her for a long time.”
She studied his face closely, searching for even the slightest sign of emotion, then spoke softly, “Jack, if you ever… fell out of love…”
“I never would!”
Before she could finish, Jack interrupted, his voice almost desperate. “Addie, you’re the love of my life. Even if every man in the world betrayed their wives, I never would. I can’t live without you.”
But his words only deepened the ache in her heart.
He couldn’t live without her, yet he still sought solace in another woman’s embrace.
Just as she opened her mouth to speak, Jack’s phone suddenly rang.
He hesitated for a moment, his finger hovering over the decline button, but before he could end the call, Freya gently pushed his hand aside.
“Go ahead and answer it.”
Jack obeyed, picking up the phone. Whatever was said on the other end made his expression change. His calm demeanor shifted to one of unease, his eyes widening as tension spread across his face.
After swallowing hard, he ended the call and turned to Freya.
“Addie, there’s an urgent matter at the office. I need to head over right now. Let me call you a car to take you home, okay?”
Without saying much, Freya nodded and stepped out of the car.
As Jack’s Maybach drove off, she hailed a taxi.
Instead of heading back to the villa, she instructed the driver.
“Follow that car, please.”
The driver didn’t ask any questions, starting the engine and trailing the vehicle at a steady pace.
The Maybach eventually stopped in front of a private villa.
From a distance, Freya saw a young woman in a bunny maid costume open the door. When she saw Jack stepping out of the car, her face lit up with a smile, and she rushed straight into his arms.
It was Lily.
As soon as they embraced, their lips met, and the kiss deepened with hunger and desire.
When they finally pulled away, Lily caught her breath and playfully tugged at Jack’s tie, her eyes gleaming with mischief. “Master, your little bunny has a surprise for you. Want to see what it is?”
She punctuated her words by lightly tapping his throat with her finger.
Jack’s Adam’s apple bobbed as he grabbed her hand firmly, his gaze darkening with desire. “A thirty-minute drive, and I got here in fifteen. What do you think?”
Lily giggled, curling her fingers around his. With a teasing glance, she pulled him toward the car.
“Let’s see it in the car, then.”
After they climbed into the car, it wasn’t long before the vehicle started to sway slightly.
The movements grew more intense, more urgent, with each passing second.
No one knew that Freya was sitting in a nearby car, watching everything unfold.
She had told herself there was nothing left to hope for with Jack, no expectations to be shattered. But witnessing it firsthand, she realized how deeply it hurt.
