My Mother Died At My Wedding Chapter 14

My Mother Died At My Wedding Chapter 14

Jack instinctively wanted to tear the divorce papers in his hands, but then a sobering realization struck him—this might be the last thing she had left him.
If he destroyed it, he’d lose even this final, fragile connection to her.
His fingers traced over Freya’s signature again and again, his eyes filled with aching longing.
“Addie, it’s my fault. I shouldn’t have been with another woman. I only love you!”
“You can hit me, yell at me, anything you want… Just please, don’t leave me.”
“I can’t live without you, Addie…”
He repeated his apologies over and over until his voice was raw, cracked with desperation.
But the person who needed to hear them wasn’t there.
It was all in vain.
“Freya, I haven’t signed these papers. That means we’re not divorced. We’re still husband and wife, and I will find you!”
Jack’s eyes burned with determination as he spoke, his jaw set with resolve.
He would never let her go.
She was his, always had been, and he’d admit his faults, but he would never accept her leaving.
Carefully, almost reverently, he tucked the divorce papers away, treating them like a treasure.
At least he still had photos of her on his phone—small, fleeting moments that eased the unbearable ache of missing her.
He began searching through the house, desperate to find anything connected to Freya, any shred of her presence.
But she had been thorough, ruthless in erasing herself.
Everything that had tied her to this home was gone. Unworn clothes had been sold or thrown out. Personal belongings were nowhere to be found.
Freya had left nothing behind.
Even the furniture had been completely replaced, leaving the house utterly devoid of her presence. Everything else was gone too, with nothing left behind.

Just then, Jack’s phone rang. It was Lily.
“Jack, I saw the news about the auctioning of the ‘Freya’ necklace online. Mrs. Sterling, she—”
“What did you say?” Jack’s heart tightened, and he immediately hung up, not giving her the chance to continue her dramatics.
Without wasting a second, he called his assistant.
“Zack, check if the ‘Freya’ necklace has gone back on auction. If it has, no matter the price, I want it bought immediately.”
