Chapter 92
Jimmy went to Stephen and relayed the message. “The mayor of Crestwood, Dennis Lewis, says you can meet him, but you have to go to Crestwood yourself.”
Stephen could not believe his ears. He was the son of a prominent family in Metropolis and was currently in charge of Riveria. Yet, some small–town mayor was demanding that he go to him?
“Who does he think he is?”
He usually would not give a mayor like Dennis the time of day, much less go out of his way to meet him.
Jimmy next to him spoke cautiously, “Things are different now. Dennis might actually have useful information.”
Stephen paused. If Dennis had the audacity to make this demand, he probably did know something important.
Stephen took a deep breath and said, “Fine. I’ll go meet him.”
Jimmy arranged for a fully armed team to ensure Stephen’s safety. With his security detail in tow, Stephen headed straight to Crestwood.
Crestwood was so heavily guarded now that not even a fly could get in or out. However, Dennis had given the guards a heads–up that Stephen would be coming, so the latter managed to enter Crestwood safely.
In an old, ornate courtyard, Dennis was sitting in a chair, leisurely sipping tea.
Stephen strode over with his guards and glared at Dennis. “Mr. Lewis, that’s quite the power play. How dare you make me come to you?”
Dennis chuckled. “You know Seaside City is far from peaceful right now. It’s not safe for me to be out and about alone, but you, on the other hand, you’ve got protection. People like you always do, so I thought it’d be safer for both of us if you came here.”
As much as Ethan hated to admit it, the reasoning made sense. He took a seat in the chair across from Dennis.
“Have some tea.‘
Dennis poured a cup for Stephen and pushed it toward him.
A small diffuser sat on the table, filling the air with a calming scent.
Stephen glanced at the cup but did not drink it. Tea poured by a mere mayor would not be any good. It would only taste like an insult to himself.

“Do you know why I’m here today?” Stephen asked.
Dennis smiled. “No, I don’t.”
“I heard Seaside City was a chaotic mess three years ago. Is that true?”
“Yes.”
“Was Crestwood one of the main forces of that chaos?” Stephen’s gaze was stern.
Dennis was not nervous at all. “Yes.”
Stephen then asked, “Why did Crestwood suddenly lay low?”
That question made Dennis pause for a moment.
Why did they lay low? It was because he suddenly crossed paths with Ethan, and the first
Ethan made was to kill Dennis‘ two most trusted subordinates and his only son.
After that, Ethan made a few more moves that decimated Dennis‘ crew, and the mere mention of Ethan’s name filled him with dread.
Dennis sighed softly and lowered his head.
“Bécause we countered someone we couldn’t afford to offend.”
Someone they could not afford to offend? Stephen wondered who exactly it was that could make Dennis sigh and lower his head in despair.
“Who was it?”
Dennis said, “You know him.”
Stephen thought about it before coming up with an answer. “Howard Green.”
Dennis laughed. “No.”
“Then, who is it?”
That was when Dennis said the name. “Ethan Rivers.”
Stephen froze, his eyes widening in disbelief.
It was Ethan? How could it be Ethan?
“Are you joking?” Stephen could not believe it.
The man who returned peace to Seaside City and struck fear into Crestwood could be anyone, but it could not possibly be Ethan!
