Chapter 89
Stephen’s office was festively decorated, with a banner hanging on the wall that read, ” Seaside City GDP Breaks Two Trillion.”
After arresting Howard, taking over the leading enterprise, and subduing an entire entity, Stephen was filled with optimism about Seaside City’s future. Seaside City’s economic outlook was undeniably bright.
He was confident it would not be long before Seaside City’s GDP actually broke two trillion. For that reason, Stephen was now rehearsing for that momentous moment, preparing for the day when Seaside City’s GDP would reach that milestone.
“Knock, knock.”
At that moment, there was a knock on the door.
Stephen, lounging in his chair, answered, “Come in.”
The door opened, and Rachel entered.
Feigning confusion, Stephen asked, “Rachel? What brings you here?”
Rachel smiled warmly. “I’m here to congratulate you.”
“Congratulate me for what?” Stephen continued to play dumb, despite knowing full well why she had come.
Rachel’s congratulations were part of the rehearsal. He had specifically arranged for Rachel to come and congratulate him, adding to the immersive experience and boosting his sense of accomplishment.
“Of course, I’m here to congratulate you on Seaside City’s GDP breaking two trillion dollars under your brilliant leadership. This is not only great news for the Riveria, but it’s also a significant achievement for the nation!”
There were only a few cities in the nation that had achieved such an economic feat.
“This is a monumental achievement! Having you at the helm of Riveria is the best thing that could have happened. You’re an inspiration to all of us!”
Stephen could not help but laugh at Rachel’s praise.
“Hahaha!”
No matter how many times he heard those words, he still felt great.
Since arriving in Riveria, things had only gone downhill for him. His investigations into Ethan Rivers had resulted in two embarrassing incidents, and his management of North Hill City had led to its destruction.

He really needed Seaside City’s GDP to break two trillion dollars. Only then could he prove himself. With that achievement, all that talk about Riveria being doomed without Ethan could be dismissed as nonsense.
More importantly, it would prove that with Stephen at the helm, instead of Ethan Rivers, Riveria would not merely survive–it would flourish beyond anyone’s expectations.
With him present, law and order can still be maintained! That was also the most impactful counterattack to Ethan’s comment towards him.
In Ethan’s eyes, he was disrespectful, incompetent, and no different from ordinary people. However, once Seaside City’s GDP broke two trillion dollars, all those words would backfire on Ethan instead!
Stephen chuckled and said, “Rachel, you should focus on work and not flashy achievements like these.”
For a moment, he almost believed that Seaside City’s GDP had really broken two trillion dollars, forgetting that it was just a rehearsal he had set up.
Rachel laughed. “It’s all thanks to your great leadership.”
The two of them laughed together in the office.
Stephen sat in his chair, reveling in the thought that Seaside City was about to break two trillion in GDP. If they could cross that, would three trillion soon follow? With that, Riveria breaking 20 trillion in GDP was just around the corner.
It was only a matter of time before Sam secured a position in the cabinet. He could already imagine his name in the family history books and even in the pages of national history.
Just then, his phone suddenly rang, abruptly interrupting their laughter. Stephen was a bit annoyed. Who would call him at a time like that?
He picked up the phone and saw it was a call from Seaside City.
What could they want? Could it be…
Stephen’s heart skipped a beat, and he was so excited he almost jumped up. For Seaside City to call him at that time, it must be because the GDP had broken two trillion dollars!
He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down. He steadied his excited heart and, with trembling hands, answered the phone.
“Mayor Jimmy, hold your horses. Let me guess your reason for calling me.” Stephen said with a grin, “It must be because Seaside City has hit a GDP of two trillion, right?”
The mayor, Jimmy Fairly, paused on the other end of the line.
Hitting two trillion? It would be a blessing if Seaside City’s GDP did not drop from 1.8

trillion to 1.5 trillion at that point.
