Stephen went against the grain and pushed for the appointments of Shawn, Eric, and more.
Simon quickly arrived on the scene, carrying a smug smile while stepping into the office.
“I was thinking of heading to yours anyway, but since you’re all here. I have good news to share. My son-”
Someone cut him off. “That’s enough.
Simón paused. Only then did he realize that tension hung heavy in the air.
“What happened?”
Simon’s expression hardened as he had not met with such unease in the office before
“What happened?”
Several smirked in rage.
“Well, you should ask your precious son. He destroyed North Hill City.”
Simon frowned. The weight of everybody’s hostile gazes was on him.
“What did Stephen do? Hasn’t he been doing a great job? His leadership will take North Hill City to new heights.”
New heights? Oh, the irony.
The group expected improvement too, but reality hit them in the face. North Hill City was a madhouse.
They replayed the earlier video. “Look at what has become of North Hill City.”
Simon turned his attention to the screen, and the chaotic street’s shocked him. The mayhem could not possibly happen in North Hill City.
“That’s impossible. The city was fine, last I checked. Besides, the city should be in good hands with Shawn and other leaders running it.”
The mention of Shawn and the others got on the group’s nerves.
“Shawn, Eric, and Brandon were in it together. They had been putting on a show right from

“They were just out for the cash, not the benefit of our people. They were faking it for the camera. They even…”
The person paused, hesitant to speak more of the matter as it was a shame they would want to put behind them too.
“Even what?” Simon said, “Just spill it.”
The individual gritted his teeth and revealed the truth no one could face. “They started the mayhem in the city. Ethan was made the scapegoat.”
Dumbstruck, Simon staggered back.
So Ethan did not disrupt North Hill City’s peace
Shawn, Eric, and the people of Lytton were the ones wrecking North City Hill from the get-

Everybody blamed the wrong guy.
“In fact, Ethan had been protecting the city. He knew what these people were like, so he kept restraining them.
“But your son advocated for these demons.
“Your son destroyed the city.”
Another individual added. “We’re not just talking about North Hill City. There used to be a nature reserve for endangered wildlife in North Hill City, but Lytton had plans to develop
the area.
“Ethan tried to stop the plan from going ahead, but your son basically handed the nature reserve to Lytton on a silver platter.
“Lytton’s reckless development destroyed the nature reserve, leaving nothing in its wake. Many endangered species have perished. I doubt these animals had a home now.
“Most importantly, the subterranean river running from the nature reserve is linked to North Hill City’s water supply system.
“Due to the damage to the subterranean river, many citizens are facing water quality issues. The hospitals in the city are packed to the brim.”
Simon could feel his head exploding. He could not accept the facts.
Shawn and the others appeared genuine in the interview. They were able to appeal to the public and tap into the people’s empathy in their speeches. Thus, he struggled to believe the trio were the culprits behind all the trouble. Besides, Stephen, his son, handpicked
those three individuals.
