Chapter 461.
Chapter 461
Stephen stared at Ethan in shock. Despite increasing surveillance on him, Ethan managed to leave the mountain.
“How did you manage to come down here?”
Ethan gave a faint smile. “Did you really think you could keep me confined? Even if I couldn’t leave on my own, I have many ways to communicate with you through others.”
Stephen gulped hard. Every time he saw Ethan, he felt unsettled, as if he were sitting in a small, rocking boat stranded on an endless ocean.
He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. He was the son of the Quinns from Metropolis, a man of noble birth and one of the most promising among his generation. How could he show fear and nervousness in front of someone his own age?
“Why did you leave?” Stephen asked. “Did you know Jeremy Davis?”
“You could say that,” Ethan replied. “He came to see me twice.”
“What?” Stephen was surprised.
As far as he knew, Jeremy was born and raised in Metropolis and had rarely left the capital, let alone visited Riveria. He likely was not even aware of Drakthorn Ridge’s existence.
“Why did he come to see you? What did he want?”
Ethan looked at him. “Are you sure you want to know? Some things are better left unknown.”
Stephen tensed at those words. It reminded him of when he had asked about Snow’s past, Ethan had said something similar. The truth was unbearable.
Stephen was terrified, but Jeremy’s grave was right in front of him. Jeremy had been willing to die for him, so how could he be too scared to learn the truth?
Stephen clenched his fists and said firmly, “I want to know.”
“The first time he came to me, he wanted my help managing Riveria for your sake.”
Ethan’s words pierced Stephen’s heart, and his face paled as he staggered back several steps.

Chapter 451
Jeremy had sought out Ethan to help him? However, what had Stephen done in return?
He constantly doubted Jeremy, distrusted him, and repeatedly reminded him that he had saved his mother when, in fact, his mother was already dead, and Stephen never saved her at all!
“The second time,” Ethan continued, “was because of your distrust. He came asking for a way to expose the mastermind behind everything. You know what happened after that.”
Stephen collapsed to the ground.with a thud, his eyes hollow and his face ashen. He felt like he had been shot through the heart.
Due to Stephen’s distrust and lack of assistance, Jeremy had been forced to join foreign forces to find a chance to deal with the mastermind. Worse still, Stephen had destroyed the evidence with his own hands and sentenced Jeremy to death, watching the man die before his eyes.
It was he who killed Jeremy and destroyed the evidence that Jeremy had paid for with his life!
Ethan looked at the gravestone and said, “Jeremy was clever and brave. He could’ve achieved great things if he hadn’t met you. Did you have some grudge against him?”
“No,” Stephen replied, feeling shaken.
“No?” Ethan said. “In that case, why did you drive him to his death? When you brought him to Hill City, did you ever consider sending him back?”
“I… I…” Stephen lowered his head, unable to speak.
“You still haven’t answered my first question,” Ethan continued. “How many more lives of the people around you are you planning to ruin?”
Stephen trembled. First, it had been Snow, Julius, Tommy, and now Jeremy. George was also in prison because of him.
“I never wanted any of this,” Stephen said, on the verge of breaking down. “I’ve been trying my best.”
