The men he promoted were capable individuals who devoted their lives to serving the people. Those who Ethan oppressed were capable as well, but they possessed more issues, mostly attitude problems. Now Stephen and the others had gotten rid of the capable ones and replaced them with timebombs.
As for how Eric solved the case in half a day, Ethan knew what happened when he heard about it. The town of Lytton must have done it again, and this time, Eric had banded together with Brandon.
Soon, North Hill City would see disaster befalling. However, Ethan did not want to make his thoughts verbal because that had nothing to do with him anymore.
They could do whatever they liked. If Riveria was no more, he could leave the place or even the country. He had a lot of backup plans.
Ethan looked at Stephen and said softly, “Stupid.”
Stephen was stunned. He did not expect Ethan to call him stupid in his face!
“What do you mean by that?” He got up and stared at Ethan. “Just you wait. Under my lead, Riveria will only get better, and you will spend your life in a prison cell! As my rival, you have lost.”
Ethan barely reacted. “Rivals should be equally matched. I won’t allow you to inflate your worth like that.”
Stephen was rendered speechless for a moment.
After a long pause, he scoffed. “No matter how eloquent you are, it won’t change the fact that you’ll be stuck here for the rest of your life. When I see you next time, I’ll be sure to bring Rachel along.”
With that, he turned around and walked out of the room, not wanting to stay for another second. Even though the meeting was brief, Stephen felt his blood boiling.
Ethan insulted his intelligence and accused him of being arrogant, yet none of his words seemed to get under Ethan’s skin. Ethan looked calm and composed, like he was above it all and had seen through everything.
Seeing Stephen walk out, Liam walked into the room and asked Ethan, “Mr. Rivers, are you okay?”
“I’m fine,” Ethan replied, getting up. “They’re the ones having a problem.”

Lytton and Eric continued to wreck havoc, the city’s GDP might be affected. Ethan had planned to remove Lytton for good, but Stephen beat him to it and locked him up instead.
He found it amusing that Stephen praised Eric for solving the case. If anything happened to North Hill City, it would be on Stephen.
When Stephen went home, he saw George waiting for him.
George said with a grin, “Ethan Rivers must be upset.”
Stephen suppressed his frustrations and replied, “Of course. He can’t even think straight and is trying to hang on to the last bit of sanity
“Hahaha!” George laughed.
He wanted Ethan to suffer in the worst way possible. The worse things were for Ethan, the better it was for him. What he wanted was for Ethan to be destroyed, die in prison, and
never get out.
After that, he said, “The election of North Hill City’s mayor has been moved up from the schedule. I need your help on this one.”
Stephen nodded. The mayor must be elected soon to calm the people down and get the local economy back on track.
First, Stephen gave Eric a call and asked which candidate he had in mind. He had a good impression of Eric after the man solved the case in half a day, allowing him to use it to provoke Ethan. Hence, he believed Eric could provide a few good candidates and some valuable opinions.
On the other end of the line, Eric leaned back on the couch, with his legs propped on the marble table. He looked at the mayoral candidate opposite him and smirked.
“I do have someone in mind.
“Shawn Hill. The man is devoted to serving the people and has thirty years experience in managerial roles…” He boasted Shawn’s capabilities through the phone.
Sitting across from him, Shawn gave an approving nod. Suggesting Shawn as the mayoral candidate was not Eric’s idea but Lytton’s because they were all in it together.
If Shawn became mayor, Lytton and Eric could gain more benefits than they could imagine. Once that happened, it would not just be a case of turning a blind eye to Lytton’s illegal businesses anymore but to assist them from the dark
Eric continued, “Shawn is a capable man. He’s confident that he can double the GDP of North Hill City in a year. Just so you know, he was also suppressed by Ethan Rivers in the past. Otherwise, North Hill City would be thriving right now.”
Upon hearing that, Stephen’s interest was piqued immediately.
