In the evening, Stephen met Jeremy.
Jeremy was thinner than he had been during their school days. His clothes were worn, and the most striking thing was how exhausted he appeared. Despite only being in his twenties, his hair had turned grey. Anyone who did not know better might have mistaken him for a man in his fifties.

Jeremy understood immediately. Stephen tried giving him more money, just in case anything went wrong later. However, Jeremy rejected it, stating there were still leftovers from the money Stephen had provided before.
Jeremy rested for a night before taking action. His first target was the South Regent’s
company because it had the lowest recruitment requirements. Even someone with just a high school diploma could get a job there, although the pay was not great.
After entering the company, Jeremy worked diligently while secretly searching for an opportunity to investigate the company.
Three days passed, but Jeremy had not discovered anything unusual. Everything was normal with the South Regent’s company. However, some of his actions had attracted the attention of the company’s higher management.
Jeremy was the last to leave almost every day, even when it was well past working hours. He also frequently wandered up to the floors where the company’s executives worked, under the pretense of cleaning. It looked like he was trying to make a good impression, but the South Regent’s subordinates were not easily fooled.
One evening, after getting off work and returning home, someone covered Jeremy’s mouth from behind, making him lose consciousness.
When he woke up, he found himself tied up, his hands and feet bound, and a blindfold over his eyes. All he could sense was that he was in a moving vehicle.

“After your father’s death, your mother raised you alone. When she became critically ill a week ago, you started borrowing money from everyone you knew. Three days ago, she died on the operating table when the surgery failed. And now, here you are.
“You loved your mom so much that after high school, you went straight to work to support her. So why didn’t you at least wait until after her funeral to look for a job? What made you leave on the day your mother passed away? What made you come to Riveria to work?”
Jeremy lowered his head, his forehead covered with sweat. He had not expected that turn of
events.
The man knew everything about him and was even asking questions Jeremy could not answer.
