Stephen agreed and immediately went to the quarry manager to deliver the message.
The manager was displeased by the decision. The miners who survived wanted around 300 thousand dollars in compensation, and the family of the deceased demanded at least 800 thousand dollars. It was not that the company could not offer it, but it was not worth it.
“I’ll have to check with my boss.”
The manager then contacted the South Regent to get further instructions.
The South Regent was made aware of the incident, and after a quick consideration, he said, ” Pay them. Let’s keep things quiet for now. After that, launch an investigation to find out whether it was an accident or deliberate.”
In the end, the company paid millions in compensation to the injured and deceased workers and even doubled the wages at the quarry. With the unrest at the quarry settled down for the time being, the manager then launched an investigation into the explosion.
Everything so far was going according to the Spencers‘ plan. They knew the South Regent would not give up on the mining rights so easily. It was too valuable.
While Nolan continued to send his men to sabotage the quarry, Stephen was glad that the incident was solved in the shortest time possible. When he first heard of the incident, he was nervous. A fatal accident like this was no small matter, and he’d expected to be crucified online once the news got out.
Fortunately, it seemed he was just overthinking. After all, he was not directly involved in the incident.
“Guess I should check how much we’ve raised in funds.”
He called his man in for an update and found out they had collected 120 million dollars, which was a huge amount of money.
Stephen was thrilled. With the money, he could begin restoring the areas affected by the forest fire. However, before he could use a penny of the money, Andy came to him with Marcus.

Stephen clenched his fists. “That’s exactly what you’re trying to say. I know the bounty hurt you, but all I wanted was to save you. I understand how it feels to see a friend die in front of your eyes.”
Tears glistened in his eyes as he got all emotional.
“You knew what happened. I’ve lost the love of my life, and I’m responsible for what happened to Julius and George. No matter how much you hate me, I need you to know I understand your pain. I don’t want to see anyone die either.”
Andy, however, barely responded. “I don’t want to hear that. What you said does nothing to improve people’s lives. I want money.”
Stephen frowned. “Why should I give you money?”
“You owe me that much,” Andy said, his tone frosty.
