“No. You guys are wasting your time trying to pu on my own. Working with you will only result in
me into this. I could do what you’re asking loss to me,” Ethan said.
Edward was rendered speechless. Ethan’s words stung him.
He had always considered himself a man with vision, someone strategic and wise, but there was Ethan, dismissing him so easily. Worse yet, he could not argue back because he knew Ethan was far more capable than himself.
“Rather than wasting time on me, why don’t you figure out a way to deal with the South Regent? He has strengthened his foundation in two cities already.”
Edward heaved a long sigh. “Sigh. You’re stirring the pot again.”
He believed Ethan was subtly hinting at him to deal with the South Regent. However, if they did, both sides would only end up in a bitter struggle with no winners.
Edward sighed because he knew he could not do anything to change the situation. They and the South Regent were destined to be enemies, unlikely to be allies, let alone friends.
He was all too familiar with Ethan’s plans after being a rival for many years Ethan always let people know what he was thinking while helplessly leaving them with no way to alter the outcome. To this day, Edward and Tyler still viewed Ethan as their arch–nemesis.

Edward took a deep breath and said, “You’re not working with the South Regent, are you? Does that mean you rejected his offer?”
Ethan smiled. “He made another request of me.”
“What was it?” Edward asked as he bolted up.
The answer would be crucial because whichever side Ethan chose to align with would be the one to claim victory.
“He wants me not to interfere with your affairs.”
Edward sank back into his chair with a thump. The moment he heard those words, he felt a wave of relief wash over him.
Ethan was not picking sides, keeping it an even fight.
“Thank you.” Edward thanked Ethan for not getting involved as it was a great advantage to
them.
Then, he got up and said, “We should be leaving now.”
Tyler followed suit, both men nodding in respect before they left.
They had originally come to mock Ethan, but when they saw him in person, they realized it was not easy to make fun of him. Now, they found themselves thanking him.

They had once considered talding revenge for Max’s death, but with only two prominent families remaining in Breeze City, their fortunes were a mere fraction of what they had been. It was not that they no longer wanted to take revenge, but they had come to understand that they could not do it. Ethan was imprisoned. He was no longer in charge of Riveria, and no matter what happened out there, he would not be involved.
After bidding Ethan farewell, they headed back to Breeze City, eager to kick off their plans. The most powerful family of Breeze City was about to return!
On the way back, Tyler called Nolan to inform him of Ethan’s imprisonment and to wait for further instructions.
“You should keep an eye on the South Regent’s companies. Hill City is huge, and we can’t let the South Regent take it all. We must at least get half of it!”
The Spencers were not as powerful as they once were. They needed the funds to kickstart their plans, money to take down Breeze City, and even more money to deal with the South Regent and other enemies.
“I understand,” Nolan said with a nod.
Then, he asked, “Did you two meet Ethan? Did you get revenge?”
“No. We couldn’t do it, and you should forget about it as well. Don’t mess with him.” Tyler took a deep breath and said, “Don’t wake the dragon. Let it stay asleep”
Nolan nodded.
After the call, Edward and Tyler began plotting how to deal with Stephen and the South Regent.
Stephen was in charge of Riveria now, so dealing with him was unavoidable. As for the South Regent, he was the enemy of the Riveria and one they could not bypass either.
