Chapter 408
“Lord Rivers, sorry to bother you.” The South Regent walked in with a smile, carrying the goods, then instructed the ladies around him, “Don’t just stand there. Get to work!”
Two ladies beelined toward the kitchen to start cooking, and the others approached Ethan, ready to massage his shoulders and thighs to help him relax.
The South Regent sat on the couch across from Ethan and placed the two bottles of fine wine he had brought on the table. “You don’t mind having dinner together, right?” he asked with a smile.
Ethan said indifferently, “Will you leave if I say mind?”
The South Regent replied awkwardly, “Lord Rivers, you must be kidding.”
“Just speak what’s on your mind.” Ethan glanced at him, knowing he must be here for a reason. He would not have brought several women along if he merely wanted to share a meal together.
“Nothing gets past you, does it?” the South Regent said with a sigh. “There are indeed a few matters I’d like to discuss
“Since I’ve already established myself in two cities, others must be eager to make their move too. You must be bored staying here all this time, so why don’t we join forces and take control of the entire Riveria?”
When it came to other cities‘ fractions, even the South Regent did not dare to underestimate them. Three years ago when Riveria was in chaos several forces were as strong as him. In fact, some of them were even more cunning than him. The South Regent knew he had no guarantee of victory.
Afraid that Ethan would disagree, the South Regent continued, “If we join forces, we’ll definitely be able to take control of Riveria. By then, you can take 70% of the gains.”
Ethan smiled faintly. “Is 30% even enough to keep you satisfied?”
The South Regent replied, “Yes, so are you keen to join forces?”
Ethan looked at the South Regent and said, “I have a question.!
‘Shoot,” the South Regent said politely.
“I can take control of Riveria by myself, so why should I join forces with you?”
The South Regent immediately froze. “Well…” He felt as if his words were stuck in his throat, unsure how to continue their conversation.
Half a minute later, the South Regent laughed awkwardly. “I’ve miscalculated things. But even if a partnership isn’t possible, can I make a small request? When it comes to Riveria, if anyone else seeks help from you, please don’t extend a hand to them.”
Since the South Regent himself could not join forces with Ethan, he figured he would make sure no one else could either. That way, at least, the South Regent would be on equal footing with everyone else.
“To prove our sincerity, we’re willing to set up a foundation in your name with 3 billion dollars to help those in need.”
Ethan said calmly, “It looks like you’re not the only one beyond the borders who has set eyes on Riveria.”
The South Regent nodded, not daring to hide anything. “Yes, it’s not just me. There are also leaders of other fractions, and people like Howard, Dennis, and Brandon. They’ve all approached me to discuss an alliance.”
Almost everyone beyond the border was coming together. The South Regent had come to see Ethan today primarily because he was worried that Ethan might try to stop them. He wanted to bring Ethan into his fold first. As long as Ethan was on his side, he would not have to worry about being stopped by the latter. If he could not bring Ethan in, he would settle for asking him not to interfere.
Ethan was not surprised upon hearing this. People from more developed cities in Riveria were indeed a significant threat to the South Regent if he were alone. However, from the start, Ethan did not want to get involved in such matters. Whatever outcome would befall Riveria no longer had anything to do with him.
“I’ll agree to your request.”
Hearing this, the South Regent was so excited that his body jolted. Although he could not make Ethan his ally, things would be much easier as long as he was not an enemy.
At this moment, two ladies brought some fragrant dishes out.
