Stephen wanted to vomit blood out of frustration
“Cat got your tongue?” Rachel said coldly. “It seems you’re not really sincere about apologizing. It’s just lip service.”
Stephen did not know what to say anymore. He wanted her to clarify what he did wrong so that he could change, but she refused to tell him. How was he supposed to correct himself if he did not know his mistake?
Stephen took a deep breath and said, “We both need to calm down. Let’s have breakfast first.”
Rachael shot him a dirty look, stood up, and left. She had no intention of having breakfast with him.
Stephen felt frustrated.
The marriage he fantasized about was not like this. He did not expect to be holding each other all the time, but it was supposed to be harmonious and happy, at least. However, the reality was that the one he loved was not by his side, and the person he ended up with was disgusted with him.
If only Snow was the one he married. Unfortunately, because of his cowardice and foolishness, Snow left him and was impossible to find again.
Stephen sat at the dining table that was already filled with a sumptuous spread. There were eggs, toast, pancakes, and bacon, but he had no appetite at all.
“Ugh.” He sighed.
“I heard a sigh just as I arrived. What happened?” George’s voice came from the door.
Stephen looked over to see George push open the glass door and walk in.
“Nothing,” Stephen quickly said. “I didn’t sleep well last night.”
In fact, he did not sleep at all. Ever since dreaming about Ethan on the plane, he had been tormented by Ethan’s question: “Do you have a grudge against her?”
“Is it because of Hill City?” George asked.
“No,” Stephen said. “It’s something personal.”
George remembered that it had not been long since Stephen got married and instantly understood. “I get it. I shouldn’t interfere in such matters, but I still have to remind you to take care of your health.”
Stephen did not understand what that meant, but he did not care and simply nodded. “I know.” “I’m relieved to see you both living so harmoniously.” George said, “I came today mainly to say goodbye. I’ll be reporting to prison at noon.”

Stephen looked at him and said guiltily, “I’m sorry. It’s all my fault.”

George fell silent for a moment before saying, “Go find Ethan. If you sincerely ask his advice, he might help you.”
Stephen did not speak.
Find Ethan for help? How was that possible?
Before, he had called Ethan trash and an orphan. Not long ago, he wanted reporters to expose Ethan for capturing Andy and taking him abroad. He had even called Ethan to question him about Penny’s support. How could he face Ethan now?
Even if Ethan was willing to help, he could not swallow his pride.
“Listen to me,” George said. “Although there are conflicts and grudges between you two, these matters concern the whole of Riveria. You’ll be in big trouble if any more incidents happen.”
Stephen finally relented. “I understand.”
George nodded. “Is Rachel upstairs? I have a few words for her.”
Stephen nodded. “She’s upstairs.”
George headed upstairs.
Stephen did not want to see Rachel either, so he got up and walked out. He went to the courtyard, pondering about Hill City and Ethan’s situation.
Hill City had only just stabilized. The chaos in Stone Village, the damaged highway, and the subsequent impacts of the forest fires had not been fully resolved.
