Leo walked over and applauded. “You’re amazing Stephen! Good people live long lives!”
The others stood up and clapped as well.
Blake also walked over and said, “Stephen, aren’t you a government official? Why not take this opportunity to find out why Penny’s support was cut off? Were the funds pocketed by someone else?”
Stephen nodded. “I’ll get to the bottom of this!”
He looked at Penny and asked, “Do you remember the organization that was providing you support?”
Penny nodded. “Yes. I still have their contact number.”
Stephen immediately said, “Give it to me. I’ll call them.”
When he dialed the number, he found that it was no longer in service.
“Hm?” Stephen immediately sensed that there might be something bigger going on. He looked at the people gathered around. Familiar people were watching him now. If he could solve this in front of them, it would be a significant achievement.
Stephen immediately contacted the service provider and found out who deactivated the account. Then, he followed the trail until he found the number of the organization manager.
He called the number, put it on speakerphone, and placed the phone on the table. The call soon connected.
“Who is this?”
Stephen frowned. “Are you the manager of the welfare agency?”
“Yes.”
After getting a confirmation, Stephen asked coldly, “Why did the agency close? Did you take all the funds?”
“Our boss decided to dissolve the agency.”
Stephen narrowed his eyes. “You have a boss? Call him now. I have questions for him!”
The manager said, “Please hold on.”
There was the sound of a ringing dial tone. Stephen understood that the manager was using another phone to reach his boss so that they could talk to each other through the two phones.
Soon, the call connected.
“Hello? Are you the boss of the welfare agency?”

“Yes,” a familiar voice replied.
Stephen froze when he heard that voice. Even if he lost his memory, he would never forget that voice! It belonged to someone he hated deeply with every fiber of his being.
“Ethan!” Stephen gritted out.
“Yes, I’m here,” Ethan responded calmly.
“Why did you shut down the welfare agency?” Stephen clenched his fists.
Ethan said, “You should know the answer to that question very well.”
Stephen frowned, but he soon understood. All of Ethan’s assets were seized when he was arrested. Since the welfare agency was his creation, it would naturally have been dissolved too.
Realizing this, Stephen swayed slightly. His face paled. He was responsible for the closure of the agency! In other words, he was the reason Penny lost her support, worsening her already dire situation. He did not know how to face Penny beside him.
Just then, Ethan spoke again, “Since you’re asking me this, I assume you’ve met someone who used to receive my support. What do you plan to do next, Stephen?”
Stephen composed himself and immediately said, “Of course, I’ll help her!”
Ethan asked, “Only her?”
Stephen gritted his teeth. “I’ll–help everyone! Whatever you did before, so can I!” He would prove that he was no less than Ethan! It was just money–something he had never lacked. Ethan chuckled. “You can’t even help your friends. How are you going to help everyone?” Stephen lifted his head and looked around to see Blake, Leo, Chloe, and his other classmates. Among them, some of them had achieved success, but most of them were struggling.
