Chapter 392
Stephen stood in a daze in the silent, empty room and sighed helplessly.
In his prime, he imagined his future to be full of happiness and excitement, but now, the reality of his life felt cold and hollow.
After packing, he slowly walked out the door, hoping that Rachel would come out and say, ” Take care and have a safe trip.”
However, even as he stepped out onto the street, that voice never came. It felt like his heart was being torn apart.
His driver was already waiting, so he walked toward the car. Just then…
“Take care, darling. Have a safe trip!”
A voice rang out behind him.
Stephen froze and turned around with excitement, only to see a woman embracing a man.
“I’ll be back soon,” the man said before kissing the woman.
Stephen stood there, his heart sinking. It was just an illusion, nothing more. Now, it felt like not one, but a thousand knives were stabbing at his heart, relentlessly cutting away at him.
He hurried into the car and told the driver to head to the airport.
When he arrived at Metropolis at night, Simon had arranged for someone to pick him up. In the backseat of the car, there were various expensive gifts for him to bring to the Whites as an apology.
Stephen knew that the Quinns wanted to minimize the fallout, but the fact that they had not considered his decision hurt him.
Soon, he arrived at the Whites‘ estate. The butler who came to the door did not even try to hide his displeasure when he saw Stephen.
As Stephen was led to the living room, he heard voices coming from inside when he was still a distance away.
“You want to go to Riveria? Absolutely not! It’s too chaotic there.” It was the voice of Andy’s
mother.
Andy said, “I’ve made up my mind.
“Why would you make that decision?” asked Andy’s father.
“Because there are people who need me.” Andy’s gaze was firm.
When his parents saw his expression, they knew they could not change his mind. They had no choice but to call Marcus and instruct him to gather a few people to accompany Andy.

Chapter 392
A few minutes later, Andy walked out of the living room. Stephen locked eyes with him. However, after a second, Andy looked away as if Stephen did not exist. That cold, distant attitude–like they were nothing but strangers–cut deeper than Stephen wanted to admit.
With heavy steps, he held the gifts, clutching the gift in his hand. Andy’s parents glared at him. Although they hated him, they could not truly punish him. After all, the Quinns were also a powerful family.
Since Andy was going to remain in Riveria, maintaining good relations was in everyone’s best interest. They accepted the gifts, exchanged a few superficial pleasantries, and let Stephen leave.
When Stephen returned to the Quinns‘ estate, he realized that it had been nearly half a year since he had returned home.
“Mr. Stephen is back!” the butler shouted excitedly when he saw him.
Simon walked over and asked, “What did the Whites say?”
Stephen replied, “They forgave me.”
Simon sighed in relief before asking, “Why didn’t Rachel come back with you?”
Stephen’s already bad mood worsened. Did his father think he wanted to leave Rachel behind?
“She’s been feeling unwell lately, so she didn’t come along.”
“I see,” Simon said. “Go settle down and get some rest.”
The butler led Stephen back to his room. However, being home offered no comfort.
Alone in his room, he took out his phone and called his friends to go out for a drink.
“Sorry, Stephen. We can’t go out.”
“My old man won’t let me out lately.”
“Next time for sure, Stephen.”
Everyone refused.
Stephen guessed that word about him putting Andy in danger must have spread. The parents did not want their children around him, fearing they would end up in an accident too.
He lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to find peace. He did not want things to end up this way either!
Suddenly, his phone rang. Stephen looked at it and saw that someone had sent him a message.
“Stephen, there’s a class reunion the day after tomorrow. Are you coming?”
