Chapter 389
“Exactly!”
How much danger had Andy faced because of that reward? How many people had lost their lives? If he had not claimed to know Ethan, he would not even have survived.
Andy glared at Stephen. “Did you know? There was a family that saved me when I was on the brink of starvation, but I didn’t even get a chance to thank them. Because of your reward, someone came to their home with a gun and shot the man of the house. They even tried to kill his wife and daughter!
“Later, I was hunted by countless people. All of them were after the reward you posted. Do you know how many people died along the way just to protect me? I wouldn’t have made it out alive if not for Ethan.”
Andy stormed forward and grabbed Stephen’s collar. Stephen’s eyes widened, his face turning pale, and Andy punched Stephen again, knocking him back several steps.
Stephen was hit a second time, but there was no trace of anger on his face this time. In fact, he had no reason to be angry.
He had never anticipated things turning out this way. The reward was supposed to save Andy, but it ended up endangering Andy and causing the deaths of many people.
Andy recalled the image of the man falling and the annihilation of Scarface’s team. He slowly fell to his knees.
“I was powerless.” He lowered his head, his voice trembling, barely holding it together. “I couldn’t stop any of this. You and I… We’re both responsible for their deaths.”
He choked. They should not have died. Each of them had a bright future ahead of them. However, they all died because of his recklessness and Stephen’s reward.
Furthermore, they all died to save him because they thought he was Ethan’s friend when in reality, he was not Ethan’s friend at all. It was the opposite. He had insulted Ethan and even attacked Ethan before. If he had to label their relationship, he was actually Ethan’s enemy.
“It was all my fault.” Andy started to cry.
He slapped himself across the face, hard.
If those people found out how much he had disrespected the hero in their hearts, would they regret dying? They would surely hate him.
Startled, Marcus quickly ran over to hold Andy back.
“Calm down! Calm down! Don’t be impulsive!”
He had just learned about what Andy had experienced outside the borders. Many people had died to save Andy, and they died right in front of his eyes.

Marcus held Andy tightly, comforting him, “It’s all over. Don’t think about it anymore. Everything will be fine.”
Stephen watched the scene play out quietly. His eyes were filled with regret, despair, and helplessness.

The way Marcus was holding Andy was exactly the same as how he held Julius when Julius died. Back then, he had screamed, “No!” However, it was too late–Julius could no longer hear
him.
He understood exactly how Andy felt now. Those people had died to save Andy, and Julius had died to save him.
Stephen slumped to the ground powerlessly, his face ashen and the light leaving his eyes. He did not know if this was also part of the South Regent’s plan because he could not tell anymore; he really could not.
“I’m sorry.” Stephen lowered his head. “I didn’t expect things to turn out that way.‘
At that moment, the viewers in the livestream were dumbfounded.
“Huh? Instead of helping Andy, Stephen ended up causing more harm? The only one who really helped was Ethan?”
“Many people sacrificed themselves to save Andy because of Ethan?”
“What’s going on?”
“Isn’t Ethan a criminal? He’s the bad guy, right? How could he be the one who saved Andy?”
Their minds were buzzing with confusion.
