Escorted by the team, Andy returned to Riveria that very night. Stephen and Marcus personally came to welcome him. When they saw him covered in mud, looking worse off than a homeless man, their heart ached.
They could not imagine what Andy had experienced out there.
“It’s good you’re back.”
The weight finally lifted from Stephen’s chest. He was worried Andy’s life might be in danger out there.
Just recently, the South Regent had given him a bullet as a wedding gift. If anything had happened to Andy outside the borders, he would be blamed.
Marcus stepped forward and comforted Andy, “You’re back now. It’s safe here. You don’t need to worry.”
Andy looked at them, and the first words he said was, “I want to meet Ethan.”
Marcus and Stephen were taken aback. They exchanged glances, failing to understand why Andy suddenly wanted to meet Ethan. Could it be that Ethan was involved in his capture?
“Whatever it is, let’s leave it to tomorrow.” Stephen said, “It’s too late now, and you need to rest.”
Marcus nodded in agreement. “Yes, eat something first, then take a hot shower and rest for the night.”
Andy was brought to a hotel, where Marcus arranged a lavish dinner for him. After a shower,– he was invited to eat. On the table were several delicious dishes, making it a hearty meal.
Marcus was speaking to the Whites, telling them they had found Andy. He also turned on the video call to let them see for themselves to confirm Andy was safe and sound, all limbs intact.
Seeing that Andy was still eating, the Whites told Marcus, “Let us know when he’s finished eating. We have something to tell him.”
Andy was starved. Over the past few days, the only decent food he had was the soup and stew given by the family of three, and some bread and half a bottle of mineral water Scarface had given him in the car.

He first ate in small bites but soon picked up speed, devouring and gobbling down the food. Andy’s eyes reddened as tears began to fall.
Marcus, just off the phone, was heartbroken to see that. It was hard to imagine a young man from a prominent family in the capital would be eating like that.
Worried that Andy would choke himself from eating too fast, he quickly said, “Slow down. Slow down. Nobody will take your food.”

As his words fell, Andy slowed down. He remembered the kind family and Scarface’s group. The food they provided him was simple, but it had given him a sense of safety and satisfaction.
Now, he was enjoying a warm and bountiful meal, but those people were no longer with him. How he wished someone was here to snatch food from him one last time!
“Bang!”
The fork slipped from Andy’s hands and onto the table. Then, he buried his face in his hands and started crying.
“I’m useless. They died because of me. I–failed them.‘
He broke down. He could not forget the memories of himself being humiliated by roadside thugs and the man falling in front of him.
He could not forget the image of the glasses guy lying on the ground, covered in blood, and Scarface desperately shouting at him to run.
Marcus was startled. He did not know what Andy had recalled. All he could do at that moment was to hold Andy tightly.
“It’s alright. It’s all over now. You’re alright now. Relax. There’s nothing you can’t overcome.”
Hearing the commotion, the doctors and nurses standing by outside quickly came in. Seeing Andy in an emotional distraught, they used sedatives to calm him down slightly.
