Chapter 377
A man stepped out and immediately saw Andy slumped against the corner.
Startled, Andy quickly said in an incoherent foreign language, “Sorry. I’ll leave now.”
He did not actually speak the language, but after being beaten up so much, he had picked up a few common apologetic phrases.
Andy pushed his hand against the ground, trying to push himself up. However, he was too exhausted. He attempted twice and still could not make it to his feet.
The man turned and went back inside. Andy panicked even more. He was afraid the man would come out with a gun or a stick the next second.
He had encountered such situations a few times, and every time, he had run for his life, scrambling away in fright. He wanted to flee now, but his body had no strength left.
A moment later, the man walked out. However, instead of holding a gun or a stick, he was holding a bowl of hot soup, which he offered to Andy.
Andy’s eyes widened. He looked up at the man in disbelief. Instead of chasing him away, the man was feeding him!
Without saying a word, Andy grabbed the bowl and began wolfing it down. After finishing the bowl of soup, Andy felt as if he had been reborn.
Tears began to fall from his face, landing on the ground. As part of the influential White family in Metropolis, he grew up in luxury. He was surrounded by wealth and privilege and had tasted the finest delicacies the world had to offer.
However, no grand feast from his past could compare to the simple bowl of soup in his hands. When he finished, he still looked unsatisfied.
The man smiled at him and awkwardly said in a familiar language, “Was it not enough? I still have some in the house. Join us.”
Andy trembled. Hearing his own language in that foreign land was enough to make him tearful.
The man helped Andy to his feet and brought him into the house, where the man’s wife and daughter were sitting around the dining table. A kerosene lamp flickered dimly on the table as the family of three ate their dinner.
up and When the man brought Andy inside, his wife did not say a word. She simply stood walked away. The little girl, however, kept her wide eyes fixed on Jack, her curiosity evident.
Andy knew the woman was disgusted by his appearance. In the past, he used to be the one turning his nose up on others. Now that he had experienced that situation himself, he felt ashamed.

Then, his wife returned with a bowl of warm stew and placed it before Andy, saying something in the local language, which Andy could not understand..
The man smiled. “We only have this to offer. I hope you don’t mind.”
Only then did Jack grasp the woman’s meaning. She was apologizing for the simple meal, worried he might not like it.
Quickly, Jack responded with the few phrases of gratitude he had learned, repeatedly thanking them for their hospitality. There was not much food on the table or in his bowl, but it was the most satisfying meal Andy had ever had.
After dinner, he wanted to leave because the house was small. It only had a living room and a bedroom. However, the man insisted he stay for the night to rest.
Andy agreed as he was exhausted. The man led him to take a simple bath, and while waiting for his hair to dry, the man and his daughter sat beside him.
“You’re from Riveria, aren’t you?” The man spoke awkwardly, but Andy understood him. “You can say so,” he replied.
He was actually from Metropolis, not Riveria.
“How did you end up here?” the man asked.
Andy fell silent. It was all because he was too arrogant and reckless. To prove that he had surpassed Ethan, he wanted to challenge the South Regent’s subordinate but instead found himself bound and dragged to this place.
