Andy’s mind was filled with questions. He could not understand why his mentor would sit down when his foe invited them to. It was humiliating!
Ethan calmly said, “There’s tea in the pot. If you want some, help yourself.”
Marcus picked up the teapot and poured a cup of tea for Ethan and himself. Holding the hot tea cup in his hands gave him a small sense of comfort.
“Your tea is as good as ever.
Ethan smiled. “How’s life been over the past three years?“.
“Not bad.”
“I heard you got married.”
“Yeah. I have a daughter now, and she’s two this year. If I knew I was meeting you today, I would have brought her along.”
Ethan’s smile widened as he said, “Congratulations.”
Marcus simply smiled and nodded.
Ethan then asked, “It’s been three years. I suppose you’re still sharp?”
Marcus immediately tensed up, a nervous smile appearing on his face. “I guess so.”
Ethan could tell Marcus had grown complacent over the years.
“Don’t worry. The blood you shed for Riveria is enough. You deserve to take it easy now.‘
Marcus breathed a sigh of relief, but he still added, “If you need me, I’ll be back as soon as possible. Just give me the word.”
Ethan answered, “That won’t be necessary anymore.”
He no longer governed Riveria.
“You should spend more time with your family” He then looked at Andy and asked, “Is he your student?”
Marcus‘ forehead was glistening with sweat as anxiety crept in. Andy had lost to Ethan once before, and just moments ago, Andy was trash–talking Ethan. Marcus desperately wished he could deny his relationship with Andy, but he knew he could not fool Ethan.
He bit the bullet and nodded. “He is.”
He was fuming inside. This was all Andy’s fault Andy was the one who got him into this huge trouble.

Ethan asked, “Did you take him as your student for fun?”
Marcus looked down, not knowing how to answer the question. In truth, it was Andy’s family who invited him to be the boy’s mentor
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Andy bristled at Ethan’s words, thinking it was an insult toward him.
“And what’s with you, Mr. West? I’m here to get revenge, not to embarrass myself,” Andy snapped.
He felt embarrassed by Marcus. He could not believe how timid Marcus was behaving in front of an enemy. Why would he answer every question obediently?
Marcus could feel his blood boiling. He was in awe at how ignorant Andy was.
“Revenge? There’s no revenge here! Ethan used to be my superior, and he was also my mentor. Therefore, he should be your mentor too!”
Andy was stunned by the sudden revelation, his body numbed and paralyzed. The young man that he deemed a foe was his mentor’s superior cum mentor?
His mind went blank. No wonder Ethan had the nerve to tell Marcus to train again.
Andy gulped nervously. He finally understood why Marcus was so timid in front of Ethan.
Marcus was a legendary military expert, powerful and well–respected. If Ethan was his superior and mentor, how terrifyingly powerful could Ethan be?
“Apologize now!” Marcus bellowed.
Andy snapped out of his daze, his face turning pale with embarrassment. He was struggling to accept the sudden change of Ethan’s identity.
Just moments ago, he had thought bringing Marcus over with him would make Ethan beg for forgiveness. Yet now, he was the one who had to apologize!
What made it even harder to swallow was how young Ethan looked–he seemed to be about the same age as Andy himself. The words got stuck in Jack’s throat.
“He might be your mentor, but he’s not mine. And don’t forget you’re working for my family.”
To him, if someone was not from one of the major families in the capital, they did not deserve his respect, much less his apology.
With that being said, he turned around and left.
