Rachel looked at Ethan in disbelief. “How could you be so heartless?”
Ethan replied, “I’ve never had any feelings for you. How is that being heartless?”
“I’m getting married. You’ll lose me forever.” Rachel refused to give up. Ethan was much more obedient than Stephen, so she did not want to let him go so easily.
Ethan slowly sat down on the chair and said calmly, “Neither have I ever had you nor do I care about you. Why would I lose you?”
Seeing that force was not working, Rachel lowered her head and tried to use a softer tactic. “Yes, I made a mistake. I know I let you down, and I know that you were wronged, but I know what I’ve done wrong now. Come back to me.”
She raised her head, her eyes brimming with tears. “Let’s work together. I can help you take Riveria back. Then, both Riveria and I will be yours.
She thought, ‘If I’m not enough to move Ethan, then surely, Riveria will do the trick. He wants to take Riveria back and get revenge on the Quinns, right?‘
Ethan smiled. “Riveria? I don’t care about Riveria. I’m not interested in you either.”
Thud, thud, thud.
Rachel staggered back in disbelief.
Ethan did not care about Riveria and was not interested in her?
“Why? You used to be so gentle to me. Where did that version of you go?”
Ethan said calmly, “I’ve always been me. As for you saying that I was gentle to you before, that’s just your misconception. I simply couldn’t be bothered to deal with you and was just brushing you off.”

“You were just brushing me off?” Rachel felt her head spin after hearing the truth. She could not bear it. Had she been deluding herself all this time?
“Are you just testing me?” She still wanted to fight.
Ethan said calmly, “I know at a glance what kind of person you are. There’s no need for tests. You overestimate yourself.”
Rachel felt her legs weaken. Force failed, and softening did not work as well. She was faced with a cruel truth. She thought that Ethan loved her, but it turned out that he never cared about her.

She pushed them away and looked at Ethan. “You really never had any feelings for me?” Ethan met her gaze. “You don’t deserve it.”
Rachel could no longer hold back as tears rolled down her cheeks. Ethan would not take her away. She was really going to marry Stephen, the man who caused the downfall of the Lowes!
At that moment, Rachel felt immense regret. If she had not driven Ethan way back then, if she had not coveted the Quinns‘ wealth, she would not have ended up in this situation. The Lowes would not have declined, and George would not have to go to jail.
Ever since Stephen arrived, her good days came to an end.
Stephen had accomplished nothing and even found another woman. Furthermore, he hit her for that woman, treated her coldly every day, and even caused her father to go to jail.
