George hung up the phone. They had been tricked thrice, and there was no way they would fall for it again.
Meanwhile, Julius sent his men to investigate Stone Village. He wanted to know how the previous village chief disappeared and whether or not the village was involved in any heroic acts. It was important, and if he did not get to the bottom of it, the other villages might claim to be heroic too, which might start a chain of bad reactions.
The next day, the construction of the freeway continued and progressed smoothly. The other villages did not raise prices like Stone Village did.
Julius also visited the other villages along the freeway course, asking them whether Stone Village contributed to the battle against the invaders from beyond the borders.
“Stone Village? They contributed nothing! They are the ones who helped the invaders back then!”
“They did not just help the invaders, Stone Village themselves are the villains.”

George had a look and then said, “Nico said that the other villages are jealous of them and have been slandering them. These testimonials are not enough to prove that Stone Village isn’t a heroic village.”
“Stone Village doesn’t have evidence to prove they are as well,” Julius argued, which took
George by surprise.

“You don’t have to worry about this. I’ll find out the truth myself.” Julius sighed helplessly. He believed he had to locate Hendrick in order to find out what Stone Village was trying to

The villager smiled. “We are not stopping you. We want to invite you in for tea and have a

They dragged George to the side and served him tea while one of them informed Nico about his arrival.
