Then, Mr. Lynch looked at Mark again. “Even if you fool everyone else, you can’t fool me. I’ll be watching you.
“I’m in the cement and construction business and have a vendetta against the South Regent. If you make any move, don’t blame me for being rude. After all, anything can be buried in cement before it sets!”
He wanted to threaten Mark so that the latter would not make any bold moves. Celestial City could not afford to be further destroyed.
Then, he stormed out of the room in a rage.
Mr. Holt shouted at his back, “You’re sick!”
Only Mark, one of the South Regent’s men, watched Mr. Lynch’s figure and smiled faintly.
Mr. Lynch left the restaurant and called for his driver to pick him up.
As the car approached, its headlights glared in his eyes, making him feel uneasy. He quickly stepped back.
However, the car slowly came to a stop by the curb. The car door opened, and the driver got out to help the still–shaken Mr. Lynch into the car.
“Check the car thoroughly before we leave.” Mr. Lynch was worried that the car had been tampered with.
The driver did so and carefully inspected the car but did not find anything.
On the way back, Mr. Lynch quickly called Stephen. “Mr. Smith is working for the South Regent!”
Stephen frowned. The people he sent to investigate had not reported back, but now that he suddenly got such news, he immediately took it seriously.
“Are you sure? Do you have proof?”
Mr. Lynch said, “I caught him meeting one of the criminals at the hotel restroom!”
“Which hotel?” Stephen asked for the hotel name and immediately sent people to verify
the information.
Mr. Lynch continued, “I have a feeling that something might happen to me. If anything does happen, he will be the one behind it!”
However, he made it safely home without incident.
Stephen did not waste any time. After ending the call, he contacted the authorities to bring Mark in for questioning.

The next day, Stephen’s investigative team reported back.
“We found that Mr. Smith does indeed have ties with foreign entities. He’s very likely connected to the South Regent. The 30 million dollars he used to register his company might be part of the ransom we paid for Richard.”
The evidence was conclusive!
Stephen closed his eyes and slowly leaned back onto the sofa.
At that moment, he felt a wave of relief, but more than that, he felt anger. He was relieved that they had uncovered Mark’s true identity in time and thwarted the South Regent’s next plot.
However, he was furious that the South Regent still dared to openly send people to Celestial City after kidnapping Richard and having the previous mayor cause chaos in the city.
Did he really think Stephen was so easy to push around?
Stephen wanted to call the police and have Mark executed immediately.
However, he remained calm. He had just uncovered the South Regent’s scheme, so he needed to turn the tables in his favor!
Stephen personally went to the station and questioned Mark.
In the interrogation room, Mark sat calmly with handcuffs on, staring at Stephen calmly. Stephen glared at him. “What is the South Regent planning this time?”
Mark smiled. “You must be joking. I don’t know the South Regent.”
“Save it.” Stephen said, “We’ve found out that you have financial ties with the South Regent.”
“I’ll admit to having financial dealings abroad, but I won’t admit to any with the South Regent.” Mark replied, “Do you have any proof that the funds came from him?”
Stephen was immediately speechless.
The investigation had indeed shown that Mark had dealings abroad, but there was no direct proof that the money was from the South Regent.
Soon, he thought of Mr. Lynch and said, “We have a witness!”
Mark smiled. “Do you mean Mr. Lynch? I don’t think he’ll be able to make it.”
