After a round of drinks, Mark received a call. He glanced at the screen and hung up. He smiled and said, “Please continue, gentlemen. I need the restroom.”
Two minutes later, another businessman stood up and said he needed to use the restroom as well. He slowly walked toward the gents‘ room and was just about to enter.
Bam!
A young man rushed out and collided with him head–on.
The businessman stumbled back and managed to regain his balance. He looked up and was just about to scold the man when he suddenly froze.
The person he bumped into was one of the criminals!
Although he was dressed in the restaurant staff’s uniform, there was no mistaking his face!
The criminal saw the businessman’s reaction and knew that his cover was blown. He pulled down his hat and hurried away.
The businessman was just about to take out his phone to call the police when he saw Mark
come out of the restroom.
Their eyes met, and the air suddenly turned tense.
The businessman realized something and asked in a low voice, “Are you working for the South Regent?”
He clenched his fists. The businessman whose child had been kidnapped was his friend. Furthermore, the South Regent was trying to meddle in Celestial City’s affairs now. That was unforgivable!
Mark smiled, “You’re drunk, Mr. Lynch.”
“I’m not drunk!” Mr. Lynch narrowed his eyes. “You’re definitely working for the South Regent. I think I understand your plan now! I’ll expose you!”
He turned to leave. Although his steps were unsteady due to the alcohol, he moved quickly. Mark looked at his back and smiled faintly.
In the room, Mr. Lynch returned hastily and slammed his palms on the table. “Stop eating! Mr. Smith is working for the South Regent. He’s here to ruin Celestial City!”
His words shocked everyone. They all looked at Mr. Lynch in surprise.
Although they were not keen on Mark joining Celestial City, that accusation seemed a bit far -fetched.
Linking Mark to the South Regent. Was Mr. Lynch trying to kill him?

Mark walked over and chuckled. “Mr. Lynch, you’re really drunk.”
“I’m not drunk. I saw one of the criminals coming out of the restroom, followed by Mr. Smith right after.” Mr. Lynch glared at Mark. “You must be plotting something together.”
Mark said, “That’s quite an accusation. I didn’t see any thugs. I only saw a janitor.”
At that moment, another businessman stood up. Everyone called him Mr. Holt. His company was in the same industry as Mr. Lynch’s: cement and construction. Thus, they had always been competitors and did not get along. He could not stand how aggressive Mr. Lynch was.
Mr. Holt said, “Are you still not going to admit that you’re drunk? You’re starting to spout nonsense.”
Mr. Lynch frowned and glared at Mr. Holt. “Nonsense? Let’s check the security footage and see who’s really talking nonsense!”
Mr. Holt laughed. “Fine.”
He called the restaurant owner to retrieve the surveillance footage. The video showed a janitor entering the restroom, followed by Mark a few minutes later.
Shortly after, the janitor left and bumped into Mr. Lynch as he exited the restroom.
After the janitor left, Mark also came out. The janitor wore a uniform and a hat, so his face was not visible, but nothing seemed suspicious.
Mr. Holt laughed. “You’re drunk, Mr. Lynch. Should I drive you home?”
Mr. Lynch knew that this footage was not solid proof. It was no wonder Mark was so fearless. He glared at Mr. Holt. “Stop with the sarcastic remarks. You’re one of the South Regent’s lackeys too, aren’t you? You’d better watch out for retribution!”
Mr. Holt was furious. “What did you say? Who are you calling a lackey?”
“You know who!” Mr. Lynch and Mr. Holt were competitors, so he never liked the latter. “Those who work for the South Regent won’t die a peaceful death!” Mr. Holt was so angry that he was about to get violent, but the others quickly held him back.
