Stephen was slightly stunned.
“He only listens to two people in his whole life. The first one is the Grand Marshal and the other is Mr. Ethan Rivers.”
“What?!” Stephen was baffled.
Why would Dr. Rodman listen to Ethan?
“I don’t know about the details, but he used to serve under Mr. Rivers.”
Stephen went back and started looking into Dr. Rodman’s background.
“He used to treat the Grand Marshal. When the Grand Marshal passed away, he followed Ethan and continued his practice. He was once abducted by the South Regent, but Ethan saved him. Ethan is his savior?!”
Stephen was speechless.
It seemed like Ethan was the only one who could persuade Dr. Rodman to help. He was the doctor’s savior after all.
Only Ethan could request the doctor to save Lucas and Celestial City.
Stephen wanted to make a move to Ethan’s place but quickly thought of something else.
Just a few hours ago, he promised his father to never’meet Ethan again. He also said that Ethan would spend the rest of his life in the mountains.
Yet in less than a day, the circumstances forced him to go back on his promise. He had no choice. He felt ashamed and embarrassed.
“Someone else can go.”
On second thought, he decided to return to the Lowes‘ mansion first.
After spending half a day commuting, Stephen was exhausted.
When he returned home, he saw Rachel sitting on the couch.
Rachel saw him as well but gave him the cold shoulder and walked away.
Stephen thought about asking her for a glass of water, but as Rachel walked away, the words caught in his throat. He had to pour himself a glass of water.
When he first met Rachel, she was caring and loving.
What changed? He could not understand the sudden change in attitude.

Judging from the furrowed brows and gloomy expression, Stephen knew George had failed
as well.
“Why are you back home?” George asked when he saw Stephen on the couch, his brows furrowed. While he was doing whatever he could outside, exhausting all his options, Stephen was sitting at home.
“I just came back from meeting Dr. Rodman’s wife. No one can persuade the doctor, except
..” A quick hesitation later, he continued, “Ethan Rivers.”
“Ethan?! Ethan can persuade the doctor to help?” George looked surprised and baffled.
“Yes. He is the doctor’s savior.”
“Really?”
George was shocked. Since when did Ethan know the doctor and even save his life?
Stephen helplessly said, “It’s true. Only Ethan can request the doctor’s help.”
Then, should we go meet him now?” George asked cautiously. He had gone to Ethan a while ago,
but Ethan refused to help, stating he wanted to see their demise.
Back then, Stephen had said that he would never ask for Ethan’s help again. Never needed and never had to.
Alas, it had only been so long, and they found themselves in need of Ethan’s assistance
once more.
Stephen’s voice grew softer as he muttered, “You go. I am not going.”
He had said he did not need Ethan’s help and promised his father to never meet the man. If he simply went to Ethan now, it would be embarrassing. Anyone who found out about this might see him as a laughingstock.
George sighed. “Fine. I’ll go.”
Later in the afternoon, he drove to Drakthorn Ridge once more.
George met Ethan in the usual living hall. “Ethan, we need your help with something.”
Ethan glanced at him. “No.”
Before George could even explain, Ethan rejected him with a brief answer.
“Listen to me. This is different, It’s not our fault this time. There are a few villages in Celestial City where the people used to protect the city and the Grand Marshal. I bet you have heard of them.
