“Can’t you see we are talking?! Get out!”
Stephen chased the patient out and then stopped Dr. Rodman from typing on his phone. ” Dr. Rodman, we don’t have much time left. Please come with me.”
Dr. Rodman realized things were much more complicated. He moved Stephen’s hand away and then continued to search for the name online.
As he went through the search results and the related articles, Dr. Rodman’s expression darkened.
Stephen and George had forcibly taken the villagers‘ homes, robbing them of their properties. When the village chief, Lucas, demanded an explanation, he was slandered and labeled a gangster. In the end, Lucas rammed himself into the wall to prove his innocence.
“You!” Dr. Rodman stared at Stephen.
The culprit himself was asking for help and even lied instead of telling the truth, hoping that the doctor would not find out.
Stephen looked down in silence. He did not know what to say.
George was also present. He stepped up and said, “Dr. Rodman, please calm down. This isn’t what we desired. Please help us.”
Dr. Rodman shook his head. “Please leave.”
He refused to help them. After all, he had a lot of things to do in his hospital and did not want to spare the time to help Stephen.
Stephen dared not acknowledge his mistake and lied just so he could get the doctor’s help. He ruined North Hill City, Seaside City, and Aqua City and he was also responsible for Ethan’s disappearance.
George said, “We will pay you accordingly.”
“I do not need your money,” Dr. Rodman replied.
“Are you going to let the hero die just like that?!” George tried to guilt–trip the doctor into helping.
“You’re calling me cold and merciless? Haha. I’m nothing compared to the two of you. You practically killed this man and left many others homeless.” Dr. Rodman had spent a significant amount of time serving beside Ethan and gained a lot of precious experience.
Stephen was quiet for a while until he decided to speak up.
“Dr. Rodman, what must we do to get your help? I really want to save Lucas. The mayor

deceived us, and we wrongly accused Lucas,”
Dr. Rodman got angrier. “Deceived by the mayor? How many times has it been?!”
Ethan had put in heavy effort to bring peace to Riveria and made sure every city was fully developed.
Stephen, on the other hand, was so gullible that he was deceived by every mayor, ruining North Hill City and other places, and now Celestial City was in peril because of him.
Ethan’s efforts went down the drain just like that.
Stephen was rendered speechless.
“Please leave,” Dr. Rodman said sternly.
Stephen felt helpless. He could not do anything but leave with George.
After they walked out of the doctor’s office, George asked, “Are we going to leave just like that? Only Dr. Rodman can save Lucas now.”
Stephen was frustrated as well. “I don’t know what else we can do now.”
They two went home empty–handed.
Rachel was at home when they came back, but she barely reacted to Stephen’s return.
However, when she saw the gloomy look on her father’s face, she asked, “Dad, what happened?”
George sighed and said, “We went looking for a doctor’s help, but he refused to lend us a hand.”
Rachel looked surprised. “The doctor rejected you?!”
“The doctor is said to be a great neurosurgeon, and only he can help us now. We ran out of other ideas.”
After a quick thought, Rachel said, “If the doctor refuses to help, why not go after his friends or families? He might not listen to you but will he listen to his family and friends?”
George’s eyes lit up. “That’s a good idea!”
He quickly asked his men to find out more about Dr. Rodman’s background.
Soon after, he acquired several contacts of Dr. Rodman’s friends and families.
“If our words have no sway, what about theirs?” George had a quick look at the contacts. The director of the hospital, the colleagues, his wife, son and parents, plus his friends… I bet they can help.”
He gave Stephen half the contacts to look up while he worked on the other half.

He contacted the director of the hospital and asked the man to persuade Dr. Rodman. He then contacted Dr. Rodman’s colleagues to do the same.
Unfortunately, none of them worked. Dr. Rodman had made up his mind.
Stephen made contact with Dr. Rodman’s family members, hoping they could change his mind.
However, it did not work as well.
Stephen had run out of options. He seemed to be steadily treading toward destruction.
“If he doesn’t even listen to his family, who else will he listen to?”
Dr. Rodman’s wife said, “He’ll listen to Mr. Rivers.”
