Chapter 272
Devastated, Stephen widened his eyes in shock and staggered backward.
George asked anxiously, “Is there nothing else you can do?”
The doctor shook his head in silence.
“Nothing? We can pay you more!” George refused to give up just yet. “We will take care of the medical bills!”
The doctor continued to shake his head. “It’s not about money. We have already done our best. But if you insist, there is actually hope.
“There’s a famous neurosurgeon in Riveria. People call him Dr. Federick Rodman. He has performed more than a thousand brain surgeries on various scales, and his patients are as old as 90 years old. If he’s here, he might be able to save this man.”
George and Stephen’s eyes
lit
- up.
Hope!
“Where is he?!”
The doctor said helplessly, “Metropolis, but it has been years since he’s performed any surgery.”
George and Stephen noted down every detail.
“We got it. We’ll get him here to treat Lucas,” Stephen said. “Please take care of him while we are away!”
He then left the hospital with George and went back to Metropolis.
Their men quickly located the neurosurgeon, and they quickly paid the doctor a visit.
The doctor was actually in the general hospital of the city.
Stephen and George made their way to the hospital and met up with Dr. Rodman.
The man was in his 50s. His hair was slightly grayed out, and he was checking on a patient at that moment.
Stephen went up to the man anxiously and asked, “Dr. Rodman, I’m Stephen Quinn. We need your help!”
Dr. Rodman frowned. He knew Stephen as the culprit who had brought down North Hill City, Seaside City, and Aqua City. Now it seemed like Celestial City was in peril as well.
More importantly, from the day Stephen arrived, Ethan had been missing,

Back in the day, Dr. Rodman had received a lot of help from Ethan. Therefore, he had no good impression of Stephen.
Moreover, Stephen just disrupted his consultation.
He looked at Stephen and said coldly, “This patient here needs my care as well!”
Stephen said, “Mine is much more important! Someone’s life is at stake!”
“The people who come to me all have their lives at stake.”
Stephen was rendered speechless for a moment.
George came over and pulled him to the side. “Just wait for a while. People like him all have a temper.”
Stephen was forced to wait, but he could not keep his anxiety in check. He worried that Lucas’s condition might deteriorate while they waited.
After the consultation, Stephen went up to the doctor once more.
“Dr. Rodman, listen to me. There’s a patient in Celestial City that needs immediate attention. He hit his
head, and the doctor there says that he won’t make it till the day after tomorrow! Only you can save him now!”
Dr. Rodman looked at Stephen. “Is he your family member or friend?”
Stephen answered honestly. “Neither. He’s a hero, and his wife and children died protecting Celestial City.”
Dr. Rodman was moved. He, too, had survived the chaotic era of Riveria.
He used to treat the Grand Mal and his men back in the day. He had never been on a
battlefield, but the terrible condition
of his patients told him how brutal it was. He
admired and respected veterans who made sacrifices.
“Why did he hit his head?” Dr. Rodman asked.
Stephen felt an instant guilt. He dared not be honest this time. With his head lowered, he muttered softly, “It was an accident.”
“An accident?” Dr. Rodman frowned. He felt strange at the explanation.
Then, the patient that Dr. Rodman was consulting earlier said, “It was not an accident! He was slandered, and in order to prove his innocence, he rammed his head into the wall! It’s all over the internet now! Dr. Rodman, you can look it up!”
Slandered?
Rammed his head into the wall to prove his innocence?
Chapter 272
Dr. Rodman was surprised.
What had happened in Celestial City?
Stephen grew anxious. He could not let the doctor find out about the tarth because the jus lied in front of him.
If Dr. Rodman learned the truth, he might refute to help.
