“Huh!?”
A bad feeling rose in Stephen’s heart.
He shouted at his men, “Open the damn door!”
“We don’t have the keys.”
“Then, ram it down!” he shouted.
Unfortunately, ramming down a heavy–duty door with an electronic lock with mere muscles was nearly impossible. They had to contact a locksmith and spend twenty minutes to break in.
Stephen rushed in and saw the mayor sitting on the couch in the living room with a smirk.
“You bastard!”
The mayor was at home from the start, and the call was merely a prank.
Stephen was infuriated. He strode forward and raised his hand for a slap.
Suddenly, a familiar voice rang out, “We meet again.”
Stephen froze. He widened his eyes to have a better look at the mayor and to his surprise, this ‘mayor‘ looked strange.
The ‘mayor‘ seemed thinner and his facial features looked more defined.
More importantly, he recognized the voice. “You’re not the mayor! You’re the one who abducted Richard!”
It was the man who had pointed the gun at him in the car, forcing him to drive to the police
station.
On the way there, the man had tried to shoot innocent pedestrians, compelling Stephen to stop the car, and then fled using a smoke grenade.
The man appeared before him once again.
“Where’s the mayor?!”
“He’s not here, obviously. I am here to replace him,” the man said.
Stephen’s heart skipped a beat He instantly connected the dots in his mind.
If the man was here to replace the mayor and he was part of Richard’s abduction, a scheme ordered by the South Regent, then the mayor must also be the South Regent’s man!
Stephen’s heart pounded wildly. “The mayor is with the South Regent?!”

“Bingo.” The man started clapping.
“You!” Stephen almost lost his mind. Once again, he was deceived and this time by the South Regent’s man playing the mayor. He had been deceived twice back at North Hill City, and now this was the third time.
At the next moment, he regained his composure and shouted, “Get him!”
“Wait a minute!”
Right before Stephen’s men could jump on him, he pulled a gun out and fired a shot at the marble table, making sure Stephen and his men knew that it was not a toy.
No one dared to make a reckless move.
“Mr. Quinn, why don’t we play another game? Same rules apply.”
Stephen knew exactly what game the man was referring to. If he could drive the man to the police station, he would win.
For the sake of fairness, this time, I won’t be using a gun.” The man tossed the gun away.
The others seized the chance and jumped on him.
Then…
Bang!
A gunshot, seemingly from a shotgun, came from outside.
Shocked, everyone turned around and saw two familiar figures. They were the thugs who had tried to assassinate Stephen during his speech.
Stephen’s legs turned weak when he saw them, and so did George’s. He hurriedly pressed Stephen down to a crouch.
A smoke grenade rolled up to his feet.
“Bye!”
Bang!
The three thugs disappeared into the smoke.
Two minutes later, Stephen and the others rushed out of the house, coughing fiercely.
“Go after them!”
Everyone gave chase.
A minute later, the thugs came back into the living room from the balcony

Chapter 267
“Let’s go. Before they inform the city, we’ll leave Celestial City in the mayor’s car.”
When Stephen and the others left the house, they checked on the mayor’s care to make sure the thugs did not drive it away.
They checked the surveillance footage and dash cam and realized that all of them were tampered with. As they tried to chase the thugs down, the terrible traffic held them up, increasing the difficulty of the search.
“I was tricked again!” Stephen could not accept it.
He had been tricked by three mayors!
He fell for the trick three times in a row!
It was unacceptable for an ordinary man, let alone the son of the Quinns!
He pulled out his phone with his shaking hand and called his father.
