Chapter 246
Since a young age, he was taught that if anyone pointed a gun to his head, he would blow their entire family’s heads off; and if someone forced him to kneel, he would break their people’s legs!
That was why, when it happened, the South Regent was more enraged than afraid.
How could he possibly meet Ethan unarmed or speak humbly to him? He was kind to have let Ethan off without carving him into a thousand pieces.
He fled because of something else Ethan did.
“Thus, rest assured!”
Stephen’s words snapped the South Regent back to reality.
“With me around, Celestial City is extremely safe.”
Upon hearing that, the South Regent slowly picked up his second phone. “Do it.”
In the crowd, several of his men nodded and quietly put their phones away. Then, they pulled out pistols and shotguns from their bags.
“Bang!” A gunshot echoed through the livestream.
The bullet tore through the billboard behind Stephen, obliterating his face on the board.
Stephen was stunned, and the crowd below flinched, looking around in panic and wondering what that was.
As the assassins surrounded the area, the crowd screamed and scrambled to escape.
“Bang, bang, bang!”
The assassins raised their guns, firing into the air and marching forward. It did not take long for the crowd to react and realize it was a shooting!
While people screamed as they ran away, George ran to the stage and dragged Stephen off in a hurry.
“Bang!”
Another assassin blasted the billboard behind them with a shotgun.
Stephen’s face turned pale. Too shocked to comprehend anything, he allowed George to lead him away.
The livestream had descended into chaos.
“What’s going on? Isn’t Celestial City the safest place?”

Chapter 246
“Isn’t Stephen the Grand Marshal’s mentee? Why did he run?”
“Is Celestial City really safe?”
His rousing speech was completely useless now. Worse, people were starting to doubt him.
Stephen was supposed to be the strong and capable man who single–handedly suppressed the enemies both inside and outside of Riveria. Why was he fleeing from two assassins now?
Before the security personnel arrived, the two assassins walked up to the stage.
“Ahem. We would like to say a few words. Stephen Quinn is a fraud. From now on, we’ve set our sights on you. Wherever you go, we’ll be there too!”
They were the South Regent’s men, but they held great respect for Ethan.
The man was the king of Riveria and had earned their admiration through strength, whereas Stephen, on the other hand, ruined North Hill City, Seaside City, and Aqua City. What right did he have to impersonate Ethan?
After spitting their insults, the assassins fled. Their mission was just to fire a few shots to let everyone know that Celestial City was anything but safe under Stephen’s watch.
Stephen was rushed to the car, which immediately sped off. He was safe, but he also understood that not only had the speech failed, but it had also made him a laughingstock.
He had touted Celestial City as a safe haven, yet a shooting just happened. If it had not been for George’s quick thinking, he could be fighting for his life right now.
Half an hour later, the mayor announced that the assassins got away!
Stephen and George remained silent after receiving the news, their faces devoid of hope.
It was over. Now, everyone would see Celestial City’s safety as nothing more than a joke. Two assassins had brazenly fired weapons in broad daylight during a public event, and yet, they had gotten away!
The online discussions were buzzing.
“Are they not caught yet?”
“What’s Stephen doing? Isn’t he the Grand Marshal’s mentee?”
