The reply caught George off guard. Stephen did not care what happened to Aqua City?
“Are you out of your mind? Do you know what that means?” George raised his voice.
However, judging Stephen’s reaction, he realized it was not a joke.

George then shoved Stephen into the car and dialed Simon’s number while standing
outside.
“Something is wrong. Stephen, he’s not like himself. He’s lifeless, dispirited, like a… hesitated to say, like a corpse, but he could not bring himself to say it.
Simon asked, “Put him on. I want to talk to him.”
George put the phone next to Stephen’s ear.
“Stephen, what are you doing? Aqua City needs you the most now. You can’t leave it!”
Still, Stephen remained indifferent.
“It’s just a woman! With your status and power, you can get whoever you want!”
“I just want Snow,” Stephen said weakly.
Simon was rendered speechless.
George, standing nearby, tried to jump in. “There are a lot of women in this world, and you’re still so young. Why sacrifice the forest for a tree?”
Stephen did not even glance at George as he said, “You have no one you love. What do you know about cherishing someone?”
George was also rendered speechless.
Stephen’s heart was crushed. No matter how hard Simon and George tried, they could not talk some sense into him. They had been at it for hours, from early afternoon to past 3 a.m. Even George’s phone battery was almost drained.
Finally, George sighed in defeat. “Let’s just get you back home. Maybe you’ll feel better after some sleep”
With that, he brought Stephen back to his house and left the man in Rachel’s care.
Rachel was frustrated and resentful. She had been yelled at several times and given the cold shoulder, and now she was stuck caring for him. Over the past few days, Stephen did not even look at her, let alone apologize.
