With that, the Mercedes drove off.
Stephen and the mayor, on the other hand, went around the city and completed his mapping for future developments.
The mayor then handed him a set of documents.
“These are the selected locations for the sports games. You can pick one out, and we will move the venue there.”
Stephen went through the list and chose a spacious location, one where multiple rivers intersected so that it could fit a massive stadium.
The mayor took the document back and said, “Very well. I’ll tell the men to start working on it.”
The reconstruction of the new stadium must be carried out immediately as the event was only a month away.
After a full day of work, Stephen finally got some rest. He laid down on the bed and closed his eyes to rest. The moment his eyes closed, he saw the girl from earlier.
Surprised, he opened his eyes.
Strange. I just met her, and I don’t even know her name. Why would I think about her?”
He twisted and turned on the bed but still could not get some rest. In the end, he gave up on resting and decided to go out and have some fresh air.
The night just arrived, marking the start of Aqua City’s nightlife.
When Stephen arrived at the high street, he was amazed by the sight in front of him.
Bright lights were hung along both sides of the street, reflecting off the shimmering water that flowed nearby, while vendors called out, selling their goods, and tourists wandered through the scene, some hand in hand.
Seeing the couples on the street, Stephen glanced to his side and was reminded that he was alone for the night. For some reason, the night felt colder than before.

He strolled slowly down the busy street, blending into the crowd. As he passed over at bridge, a glimpse of white caught his eye, and his heart raced.
Then, he hurried across the bridge, but as he got closer, he realized the young woman was not who he thought she was.
Feeling a sudden pang of emptiness in his chest, he turned to leave the bridge. However, just as he turned around, he bumped into the young woman he had been thinking about, Snow. She was still in the same white dress from earlier that day, the evening breeze gently lifting her hair and dress as she stood on the bridge.
At that moment, Stephen felt like the time around him had stopped.
“It’s you!” Snow exclaimed in surprise.
Stephen snapped back to his senses and replied, “Yeah, what a coincidence. What are you doing here? Are you alone? Where’s your friend?”
Snow pursed her lips. “They’re with their boyfriends and have no time for me.”
“Really? Then how about we get something to eat? I hope you haven’t had dinner,” Stephen said with a smile.
“Yeah. Let’s go.” Snow nodded, readily agreeing.
The two sat down at a nearby restaurant for fish and chips. The place was crowded, and the sounds of chatter filled the air around them.
“I heard Stephen Quinn is here in Aqua City. Our city is done for.”
“It’s not that bad, is it?”
“You haven’t heard? Both North Hill City and Seaside City fell because he couldn’t do his job properly!”
“Seriously? That sounds terrible.”
Stephen’s expression turned ashen when he overheard the conversation.
Even after Dennis came forward to take the blame, and he too had apologized, people still doubted his competence. There were still those who thought he could not handle the responsibility.
