Chapter 116
Simon grabbed a phone and yelled into it. “Smash those loudspeakers now! Cut the livestream too!”
“Bam!”
A gunshot rang out, and Howard’s voice was abruptly cut off. Then, a group of people rushed into the vehicle, yanked open the doors, and dragged everyone inside out.
The livestream suddenly went dark, and Howard’s voice disappeared. He did not get the chance to finish what he was saying, but his words had reached the ears of everyone present and the audience watching online.
‘Stephen has abandoned Seaside City?”
“So has Stephen known everything happening in Seaside City all along?”
“Wait, if we piece everything together, that means Seaside City is in this situation because of Stephen!”
That realization left everyone shaken.
Before they could process what they had just heard, someone online made a shocking discovery.
“Look at this video. Stephen has visited Crestwood before!”
A mysterious video surfaced online. It was a recording of Stephen leading a team into Crestwood. The camera was a bit too far to make out the conversation between him and Dennis, but some phrases could be made out.
“Three years ago, Seaside City was also in chaos, and Howard was the one who brought peace to the city.
“Howard has never killed anyone before, but you immediately had him arrested when you arrived. Then, you sent Seaside City’s security personnel to North Hill City.
“You gave us the perfect opportunity. I might have raised chaos in Seaside City, but the root cause of the chaos is you!”
Then, they witnessed Stephen poisoned and unable to move, while his men were dragged away, their fates unknown. Later, Stephen was also carried away and thrown into a pile of trash.
Everyone who watched the video was completely speechless. The video was only several minutes long, but the amount of information packed into that clip was staggering. Howard Green was truly a hero for bringing peace to Seaside City. The chaos that had taken over Seaside City was because Stephen arrested Howard, allowing Dennis to act.

Since Stephen had met Dennis and had that conversation, it meant that Stephen knew exactly what was happening in Seaside City. He was even poisoned, paralyzed in a chair, and then thrown into a garbage dump. How humillating!
The viewers took a while to recover from watching the video. Some wanted to share it with others, and some tried to save it. However, they found that the video had been deleted!
“The video’s gone?”
“Does that mean that it’s true?”
“Is that really what happened?”
Online, the uproar had already begun.
Simon’s face turned ashen. He was furious, not just because Howard and Dennis had the nerve to expose the truth, but because of what else the video showed–Stephen being thrown into a garbage dump. It was an insult to the Quinns!
That could not stand. Those two had to be captured no matter what!
At the shelter where Stephen was, the crowd still had no idea what happened online.
Some reporters held their mics to Stephen, asking, “Have you known about the situation in Seaside City all along?”
Stephen remained silent.
The reporter pressed on, “Did you find someone else to take the blame?”
Still, Stephen did not respond. He could only shoot a pleading glance at the mayor, hoping that the latter would come to help him.
However, the mayor had no intention of helping him. In fact, that was exactly the situation he wanted to see unfold. Besides, he had decided to quit.
More reporters surrounded Stephen.
“Did you force Howard to flee?”
“What else are you hiding?”
“Did you really abandon Seaside City?”
Stephen was close to tears. He knew the answers to all those questions but could not answer them because admitting the truth would doom him!
“I don’t know!” He shouted, “I don’t know anything. Move aside! I’m tired and want to go back!”
Instead of making way, the reporters pressed on, desperate to get even one answer out of

him.
Stephen had no choice but to call for his bodyguards to pull the reporters aside. Then, he hurriedly retreated into his car without looking back.
As the car sped off, the reporters‘ attention quickly shifted to the mayor.
“Did you know about any of this?”
“Were the statements from the loudspeaker true?”
The mayor shook his head. “I don’t know.”
Then, he looked into the camera with a knowing smile.
