Chapter 105
“In that case, it’s decided.”
The next day, Simon gave Stephen a call.
“Stephen, visit Ethan. We have to speak to him directly.”
The people who had proposed seeking Ethan’s help during yesterday’s meeting gathered once more, waiting for a chance to speak with film.
Stephen quickly drove to Drakthorn Ridge Mansion. As soon as he got out of the car, the doors were opened, and he strode inside to see Ethan reading a book on the couch.
He frowned. Ethan looked extremely calm, as if he had been anticipating Stephen’s arrival.
“Ethan Rivers!” Stephen strode over, saying, “The federal government demands at meeting with him!”
Ethan put down his book while Stephen set up the video call.
Several men appeared on the screen, all of them looking intimidating and stern. No ordinary man could look them in the eyes without flinching, yet Ethan looked at all of them, unfazed.
He asked, “What is this about?”
It was the first time the men in the meeting room had seen Ethan in person. They were quite surprised to see Ethan alone and calm as he faced them.
How could a man without any status or position be so calm in front of them? Even some governors would tremble before them.
“Interesting. No wonder Howard Green works for you.”
“You have quite the potential, but unfortunately, you strayed on the wrong path.”
“You remind me of my younger self.”
Everyone had different thoughts about Ethan.
Just then, Simon said, “Your man, Howard Green, has fled the city. Do you know that?” He specifically mentioned it to set a trap for Ethan and force the man to help them using Howard as an excuse. In other words, since Howard had received orders from Ethan directly and fled the city, Ethan, as the superior, must step up to solve the problem. Although that was Simon’s first meeting with Ethan, he was confident he could bend Ethan to his will. Ethan might be outstanding, but he was too young.
Being a man with many experiences, Simon believed he could easily handle the young boy.

He also believed Ethan would have no answer to his question.

However, at the next second, Ethan smiled and said, “I don’t know Howard has fled the city. Besides, he doesn’t work for me; he works for your son.”
Simon was left speechless when Ethan easily countered his question, especially Ethan labeling Howard Stephen’s men. He widened his eyes in disbelief, surprised at Ethan’s eloquence.
While Simon was at a loss for words, Ethan continued, “If you’re here to talk to me about Howard fleeing, please leave. I won’t help you.
It was not that he could not help; he refused to help.
Simon frowned. “Do you have any idea the mess Howard has made? People in Seaside City are losing their homes!
“If you continue to let him be, you’re not helping him but hurting him and the people of Seaside City. Do you want to see them suffer?”
Simon pressed on, trying to corner Ethan from a moral standpoint. If he refused to help, the blood of Seaside City would be on his hands!
Ethan calmly replied, “That’s where you’re wrong. First of all, I am a convict. I can’t possibly interfere with the outside world.
“Second, it was Stephen who released Howard, and lastly, you people also supported Howard. In other words, all of you are hurting the people of Seaside City, not me.”
