Chapter 4
Meanwhile, Simon felt an inexplicable anxiety.
As if something precious was slipping through his fingers, he desperately wanted to know what it
was.
He unconsciously walked to my quarters, about to push the door open.
His beta hurried over: “Alpha, all the guests are waiting for you in the main hall. What are you doing
here?”
Simon snapped back to reality, looking confused at his hand, then at the door.
After a long moment, he decisively turned away.
The next day, when he didn’t see me and noticed a different shadow guard, he casually asked:
“Where’s Yara?”
Lyra, who had just risen, stiffened, her eyes flashing with discontent.
The guard looked surprised: “Alpha, Yara left yesterday. Didn’t you know?”
“What did you say?”
Simon’s eyes widened, his eyelashes trembling involuntarily.
“Why wasn’t I informed?”
Seeing Simon’s anger, the guard fell to his knees: “Forgive me, Alpha! Yara submitted her resignation. to the Guard Captain days ago. We thought… you were aware.”
Simon’s rage boiled over, and he kicked the guard across the room.
“Tell Jackson to see me. Now!”
Jackson was the Guard Captain.
He was bewildered when brought before the Simon.

Simon stood with clenched fists, his eyes filled with fury, looking ready to kill.
“Jackson, you’ve got some nerve, keeping Yara’s departure from me.”
Jackson started in surprise.
“Alpha, you said Yara was free to come and go as she pleased, without needing to report to you. I thought-”
Before he could finish, Simon grabbed a goblet and smashed it against his face.
“How dare you talk back!”
Blood streamed down from Jackson’s forehead, but he bowed his head in silence.
Simon paced back and forth, a strong premonition telling him he needed to find me quickly, or it
would be too late.
With a deep voice, he commanded: “Find her. Search to the ends of the earth if you must, but bring
her back to me.”
Jackson didn’t dare delay, accepting the order and withdrawing immediately.
Hearing that I had left of my own accord, Lyra’s face lit up with joy. She sauntered over to whisper in Simon’s ear, only to be ruthlessly shoved aside.
“Alpha-”
She sat on the floor, staring at Simon in disbelief, unable to comprehend how the man who had treated her so tenderly the previous night could change so suddenly.
Consumed with worry about me, Simon had no patience for her feelings and unconsciously walked to my room again.
Opening the door, he saw the room was completely empty except for a dagger lying alone on the
table.
Seeing it, Simon’s pupils contracted in shock.
Since he’d given me that dagger, I had carried it with me at all times, never once removing it.

His hand trembled as he picked up the dagger.
“Yara, I never gave you permission to leave. You’re not allowed to go anywhere!”
After leaving the pack house that day, I headed north.
From the bustling forests of Silver Ridge to the windswept plains of the Frontier Territories.
What I experienced in that month was more exciting than my entire previous life.
Since the age of three, I had been by Simon’s side, witnessing countless power struggles and betrayals. I longed for this carefree, untroubled life.
But this peaceful existence didn’t last long before being disrupted by a persistent wolf.
I looked helplessly at the man trailing me: “Can you please stop following me?”
The
The charming wolf sauntered up to me with a grin: “Wolf–warrior, I owe you my life. How about I repay you by becoming your mate?”
I rolled my eyes dramatically.
Two weeks ago, I had gone to the highlands to watch the sunrise when I saw him surrounded by a group of rogues.
I hadn’t wanted to get involved, but I couldn’t stand seeing him outnumbered.
After I helped him, he latched onto me, following me everywhere under the pretense of repaying his debt. My attempts to reason with or scold him away had failed.
I sighed in exasperation: “I don’t need your gratitude. Can we just pretend it never happened?”
Liam arched an eyebrow: “That won’t do. If you don’t like the idea of me moving into your pack, how about you join mine? I promise to cherish you forever, with absolute fidelity.”
I didn’t bother wasting more words on him.
Seeing me walk away, Liam followed right behind.
And so we continued–me walking, him following–until gradually, I grew accustomed to his presence.

Chapter 4
Just when I had nearly forgotten about Simon, something unexpected happened.
One day, the town I recently moved into was suddenly plastered with wanted posters bearing my
face.
My instincts immediately pointed to Simon.
Besides him, no one else would search for me so publicly and aggressively.
I didn’t understand why he was looking for me when I had left to let him be with Lyra.
I turned to leave, but noticed Liam studying the poster thoughtfully.
I grew wary, fearing he might turn me in for the reward.
Surprisingly, by the next day, all the posters had mysteriously disappeared as if they’d never existed.
Still fearful of being recognized, I stayed hidden indoors for several days.
When no one came looking, I finally relaxed.
As a shadow guard, I had saved a decent amount of money over the years, but I didn’t want to deplete my savings.
So, encouraged by Liam, I partnered with him to open a workshop.
I based my designs on jewelry I’d seen worn by high–ranking she–wolves, and unexpectedly, they became wildly popular. Soon I was too busy to even think about the past.
Days passed peacefully, and I gradually lowered my guard.
Little did I know that Simon was still determined to find me.
