Suzy cast a glance at Allen, crossing her arms. I am getting a bit worn out. Why don’t you take over for me?”
Allen tossed the documents back onto the table. “He’s not worth it.”
He was finding that cripple Claude more insufferable by the day.
No way would he tolerate slaving away for Claude.
Suzy rolled her eyes and reopened the files. “So, who wants to see me?”
“Your ex–husband,” Allen replied sourly.
“Anne’s condition acting up?” she thought the timing would line up.
“Nope.”
Suzy raised an eyebrow. “Oh?“.
“He didn’t ask for Red Falcon this time. He asked for Tina.”
He couldn’t help but marvel at all the titles his boss held–miracle doctor, chemistry expert, elite hacker… If he didn’t know her himself, Allen would never believe someone like her could exist in this world, let alone be a woman.
“And what’s his goal?” she asked.
Could he be planning to trip up the Harlow family again? After that stunt he pulled at the bid?
“I was told that Wright Corporation is launching a renewable energy project. He wants you to lead it.”
Suzy fell silent. So, since the bid didn’t pan out, he’d decided to do it on his own..
Dylan’s recent actions had her speculating, and she’d spent a bit of time pondering his motives, especially where Claude was concerned. It all came down to one likely reason: a bruised ego. After all, she had compared him to Claude, and if there were one thing a man valued, it’d be his pride.
Whether it was her initiating the divorce or the comparisons she’d made between him and Claude, each hit had surely dented the impeccable Dylan’s pride.

“Has Anne been seeking him out lately?” She’d assumed the woman might be useful in keeping him occupied, but it seemed Anne’s influence was weaker than expected if Dylan still had this much time on his hands to circle around her.
“Every day, practically,” Allen said with a touch of irony. “But most of the time, he doesn’t see her just puts up a front, if anything…”

“Enough.” Suzy cut him off before he could finish. “If you have the time to come up with nonsense, spend it on something useful. Weren’t there supposed to be leads on that missing footage?”
“He’s toying with us,” Allen said through gritted teeth. “After leading us on, the trail just went cold. Whoever it is seems to know our moves inside and out.”
Suzy had suspected as much. “They likely know my identity too. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have gone as far as using Scarlet Veil on Anne.
“That would mean it really is that same group from three years ago! They failed back then, so now they’ve switched tactics. First, they tried to use your ex against you. When that didn’t work, they turned their sights on Claude ”
Allen’s thoughts aligned with hers almost entirely.
“I was trying to protect him, and somehow, that only ended up putting him in more. danger.”
“What’s the plan now? Trying to keep your distance from Claude would be way too obvious at this point.”
“Who said I’d pull away?” Her gaze hardened. “If they’re looking for a fight, they’ll find one. I’ll go toe–to–toe with them.”
Allen paused, sensing her resolve but still with a hint of concern. “So, what about Dylan’s request for a meeting?”
“If he wants to meet, we’ll give him one.”
