From the first day she’d entered the Harlow estate, Suzy had a special fondness for the food here. The dishes were always just to her taste, even surpassing Allen’s skills. And now she realized the chef was actually Claude himself.
Claude gave a small smile. “Impressive–you figured it out just from a bite.
While the thought warmed her, it also made her uncomfortable. “You don’t have to keep doing it; it must be exhausting.”

The plan wasn’t entirely disrupted, just a bit more complicated.
Claude seemed reassured. “It may still get bumpy. Dylan might try to meddle again.”
Suzy smirked. “Let him try. It takes more than that to ruin my plans.”
Claude looked like he wanted to say more, but she held up her hand, signaling him to stop. “It’s late. You need to rest.”
“All right,” he said softly. “Goodnight.”
She signaled for the waiting attendant outside to help him with his bath. “Afterward, don’t forget to apply the medication.”
Returning to her room, Suzy took a shower before checking her phone.

The amount made her pause; she hadn’t expected him to actually send it over.
“Well, well,” she muttered, a bit surprised at his generosity. But if he was going to throw money around like that, she wasn’t going to refuse. With a tap, she accepted the payment.
Easy money–she’d be a fool to say no.
As soon as she hit “accept,” another message from him popped up.

With that last word, the conversation should have ended. Dylan was hardly the type for small talk. Suzy was just about to toss her phone aside and call it a night when his next message arrived.

Suzy shot upright in bed. “How the hell does he know that?”
She’d gone to great lengths to keep her identity hidden–her bank account details were encrypted. Based on their previous encounters, she knew her hacking skills were superior to his. So how could he possibly know?
Could it have been Victor’s work? No, he didn’t have the skills either.

He might know something, but it couldn’t be much; otherwise, with his temperament, he would have confronted her outright. There was no need to worry–better to just admit it confidently.
Suzy kept her gaze fixed on her phone, waiting for Dylan’s response. When it finally came after what felt like ages, she felt her chest tighten.
“Better be.”
Those two words only unsettled her more. She opened her laptop and logged into her bank’s secure backend to check her account. No signs of a breach. “How did Dylan figure it out?”
The thought kept her up most of the night, mind racing over where she might’ve slipped up and how her identity had nearly been exposed.
Right at 5 a.m., she sent over the results he’d demanded. When he questioned the validity, she seized the moment to finally ask the question that had plagued her all night.
“If you don’t trust my work, why not dig into it yourself? After all these years, you’re the only one who’s even come close to uncovering my identity. With skills like that, was it really worth spending a billion dollars to hire me?”
