This kiss, unlike his earlier attempt to “stop the bleeding,” hit Suzy with an intensity she hadn’t anticipated. A spark ignited where their lips met, sending a jolt that shot straight to her brain.
“Smack…”
Suzy shoved Dylan back, landing a slap across his face. “This is the first and last time. Next time, it won’t be just a slap.”
With that, she stormed out of the kitchen and headed straight for the door.
She half–expected him to stop her, but he didn’t.
Finding it hard to hail a cab from here, she didn’t hesitate and grabbed one of his cars from the garage. He had plenty to spare, anyway.
his tongue Dylan watched from the floor–to–ceiling window as she sped off in his car, pressing against the spot on his cheek she’d slapped. After about five minutes, the sting was still there, a testament to how hard she’d hit him.
The look in her eyes had been something else, too–anger with a clear edge of disgust.
“Three years pretending to care while you despised me… Must have been a real chore,” he muttered.
Remembering how she’d restored the security footage in just five seconds, Dylan’s eyes. narrowed thoughtfully. Pulling out his phone, he opened his messenger app, found T, and
sent a message.
“Look into Suzy Frost. Name your price.”
Even if it wasn’t money she’d been after back then, there had to be a reason she’d pursued him. He’d find out exactly what she was after.
Suzy noticed Dylan’s message halfway to the Harlow estate but waited until she’d arrived to respond.
“The same as before.”
After tossing her phone onto the bed, she headed to the bathroom and brushed her teeth- eight times–yet she could still taste him.
“Unbelievable… Something must be seriously wrong with him.”
How else could she explain his sudden, bizarre behavior?
The man who used to barely glance her way was now actively pursuing her, even paying

Mollar to dig up information about her.
Whatever his motives, he was wasting way too much time and energy on her.
For the past three years, he’d never acted like this before.
Could it be that he was starting to-
Suzy brushed off the thought. “Probably just a simple case of brain malfunction.”
After rinsing her mouth two more times, she finally felt like the taste had faded. Stepping out of the bathroom, she went to find Claude, not really caring whether Dylan replied or
not.
One billion dollars–he probably wouldn’t be willing to part with that much, anyway.
On the drive back, she’d already called Claude, reassuring him that she was fine and encouraging him to get some rest. But Suzy knew that until he saw her safe and sound, he wouldn’t settle.
Sure enough, when she arrived–well past midnight–he was still up. He hadn’t even changed out of his clothes from earlier, sitting in his wheelchair, waiting for her.
As she entered, Suzy spun around to show she was in one piece. “Look, I made it back. without a scratch. Can you relax now?”
Claude’s worry was apparent, but it wasn’t really for her safety–it was something else. His gaze softened, and he gave her a gentle smile. “Have you eaten?”
Suzy shrugged. “Not yet.”
“What would you like?”
“Oh, it’s so late. The kitchen staff have probably turned in for the night. I’ll just grab some
crackers.”
“I’ll make something.”
“You’ll… cook?” She raised an eyebrow.
Claude arched a brow of his own. “What, you don’t think I can?”
Though he wore a smile, she could see the hint of self–doubt in his eyes clearer than anyone else. Moving behind him, she began pushing his wheelchair toward the kitchen. Of course not. My dear Mr. Claude is capable of anything.”
Despite being in a wheelchair, Claude moved around the kitchen with practiced ease, and before long, he’d prepared a delicious spread of three dishes and a soup, all of her favorites.
Suzy took a bite of the ribs, her eyes widening in surprise. “Wait, so all those meals I’ve been having lately… they were made by you?”
