Anne and Helena stood frozen in shock, horrified by the murmurs around them, wishing they could disappear into thin air.
Martin, caught off guard by the turn of events, quickly recovered his composure. A seasoned player in business, he soon had a response. With a cold smile, he said, “Five seconds? Almost seems like she came prepared.”
Suzy tilted her head, looking at Anne. “But your daughter was the one who sent him over…”
“You” Martin was at a loss for words.
“It seems Mr. Wheeler still has some concerns,” Suzy replied, pulling out her phone. “So, let’s do this… I’ll call the police. I have my own injuries, so let’s let the authorities decide who’s in the right. After all, I’m just an ordinary citizen with nothing to lose.”
She started to dial.
“Enough!” Dylan stepped forward and snatched the phone from her hand in front of
everyone.

“But…” She raised an eyebrow, her voice calm but pointed, “I hear you and Miss Wheeler are quite close. Are we sure this will be impartial?”

“Of course,” Dylan replied, turning to Martin. “Mr. Wheeler, shall we proceed this way?”
Martin, cornered and lacking options, had no objections. “If it’s Mr. Wright handling things, that will do.”
Dylan nodded, taking Suzy by the arm to lead her away.
But Claude wasn’t about to let Dylan just walk off with her. Wheeling himself forward, he blocked Dylan’s path. “Mr. Wright, my people don’t need your help.”
Dylan looked down at Claude, his eyes darkening. “Mr. Harlow, with your recent injury, perhaps you should rest up.”

Already irritated, Suzy felt her anger flare at the subtle dig at Claude. She was about to snap back when Dylan leaned in, his voice low enough for only her to hear, “Claude’s barely holding onto control of the Harlow family. Are you really willing to risk straining the relationship between the Wheelers and the Harlows… over this?”
He’d struck a nerve; Claude was, after all, her Achilles‘ heel.
They still hadn’t identified who’d secretly attacked Claude, and now, if they alienated the Wheelers…
Martin himself wasn’t much of a threat, but the real problem lay with Harlow Group’s shareholders. Many were already unhappy with Claude’s succession, and this would only give them fuel to further challenge his position
The last thing Suzy wanted was to bring trouble to Claude, yet here she was doing exactly that. Exhaling a frustrated breath, she replied in a low, cutting tone, “You’d better be ready to protect Anne for the rest of her life.”
Dylan’s gaze sharpened, his brow furrowing in apparent irritation.
“You think I’m just… Fine. Yes, I’m protecting her.”
With that, he pulled Suzy along, not sparing Anne a glance.
Claude opened his mouth as if to protest, but Suzy quickly gave him a look, signaling him to let it go.
Watching them disappear, Anne secretly breathed a sigh of relief. She hadn’t expected. Dylan to step in on her behalf like that.

His tone was light, almost devoid of emotion, yet his gaze grew even more inscrutable.
Without a second thought, Suzy shot back, “Yes. My Mr. Claude is wonderful–it’s hard not to fall for him!”
