Before he could finish speaking, Suzy interrupted him. “Why did you sit Look, you’ve reopened the wound.”
up so quickly?
Chiding him, she gently pushed him back down, lifting his shirt to check the damage. Fortunately, the wound had only split a little, causing some minor bleeding. She stopped the bleeding, replaced the bandage, and pointed a finger at Claude. “Consider this a warning–move carefully next time!”
Like a dutiful child, Claude nodded quickly. “Got it.”
Suzy huffed. “You’d better.”
As she put away the medical supplies, she recalled his interrupted words and turned back to him. “You seemed pretty eager to say something earlier. What was it?”
She assumed it had something to do with the attacker; otherwise, he wouldn’t have been so urgent the moment he woke up.
Claude looked at her, but the courage to say what was on his mind seemed to vanish. He managed a small, restrained smile. “Nothing just a bad dream.”
Honestly, he felt a slight relief for holding back. If he’d let it slip, he might even lose that fragile “siblings” bond they shared.
Suzy noticed his hesitation but didn’t press him. She never forced anyone to speak about things they’d rather keep to themselves.
The wound, which should have taken at least a week to heal, fully closed in just three days under Suzy’s care.
Claude’s injury had been kept entirely under wraps, and the Harlow Group continued to operate as if nothing had happened.
As for the attacker, Allen had been investigating, but there was an unexpected development
“You’re saying it wasn’t Julian?”
Allen handed her the report. “At least, that’s what the data suggests–it wasn’t him.”
Suzy leafed through the report. “Everyone connected to Julian has been checked?”
“Yes, it’s all documented in detail,” Allen replied, pointing to a page on Julian’s wife. “She and Julian only kept up appearances; there was never any real connection between them. Once Julian was arrested, she filed for divorce immediately and left the country.
Suzy skimmed through the entire report. It was thorough–everyone with close ties to Julian had been investigated, yet each one had a solid alibi.

“Either the attacker is exceptionally skilled, or” Suzy closed the file. “They’re targeting him because of me.”
“What do v
you mean?” Allen’s brow furrowed. “You’re suggesting that this might be the work of the same person manipulating Anne from the shadows?”
Suzy’s expression darkened. “Last time, I tried to hypnotize Anne to uncover who supplied her with the Scarlet Veil, but I found out my hypnosis didn’t affect her at all.”
In the basement that day, she’d leveraged Anne’s deepest fears to attempt hypnosis. Yet, it had no effect. Anne’s mind remained sharp, and she steadfastly refused to reveal anything about her hidden benefactor.
“That’s impossible!” Allen said, stunned. “Your hypnosis skills are among the best in the world. No one would even dare to claim the number one title from you.
“There’s always someone better,” Suzy replied calmly. “No one’s unbeatable.”
“So, what now?” Allen asked, a hint of worry in his voice. “If this really is the person behind Anne, they might have more plans in motion.”
Suzy’s lips curled into a smile. “If they do, you can bet I’ll be ready.”
Allen looked intrigued. “You mean…?”
“Remember the pill I fed Anne in the basement?” Suzy’s smile deepened. “It’s about to
take effect soon. If she’s still of any use, whoever’s backing her won’t just sit by and let her suffer.”
Allen chuckled, catching on. “I have to say, you’ve played Anne as bait quite well. But there’s just one thing…”
He hesitated for a moment before continuing. “What if Dylan, like last time, offers a high price for you to treat her? Do you take it, knowing it’ll disrupt your plans, or turn it down. and miss out on a hefty payout?”
