It took several days to trace all the people whose footprints and fingerprints had been found at the site.
As it turned out, they were just ordinary construction

When Suzy asked who had hired them, they explained that they’d taken the job through an online platform.
Apparently, even construction workers had job platforms now–jobs were posted, and as long as the money was right, someone would take it.
Since it was the off–season, the workers hadn’t thought twice before accepting the job. It only required half a day’s work and paid generously.
In fact, they weren’t the only ones who wanted to take the job.
Suzy asked, “Since you worked as a team, there must’ve been someone in charge. Who was it?”
“That would be me,” said a weathered, sun–darkened man raising his hand. “I’m the one who took the job.” Suzy looked at him. “Can I see your phone?”
The man nodded and handed over his phone without hesitation, even opening the job platform app for her.
“We took the job here. It shows when it was posted, when we completed it, and all the records, including the payment details.”
Just as he said, the app had a detailed log of everything–the job timeline, payment channels, and more. Suzy asked, “Did your commission come from the platform not directly from the person who posted the job?”
“That’s right. The platform handles all the payments,” the workers explained.
“It’s not the best deal for us, though. We split the payment fifty–fifty with the platform. But without it, we couldn’t find jobs like this, especially ones that pay this well. So even though it’s not ideal, we rely on it.”
Suzy nodded. “Understood.”
She turned to Allen. “We’ve already disrupted their work for today. When you send them off, make sure to pay each of them their market rate for today’s work.”
Hearing this, the workers lit up with gratitude. “Thank you so much, boss!”
When they’d been called in, they’d been worried about what Suzy wanted.

At first, they had assumed Suzy was a family member of the grave’s owner and had come to hold them accountable.
To their surprise, she hadn’t scolded or punished them. Instead, she paid them for their time.

Using the information the workers had provided, Allen tracked down the platform’s administrator.
Since the job had been posted through their system, the platform must have some information about the employer.
However, the administrator wasn’t cooperative. “I’m sorry, but we don’t disclose client information. It’s against our policy. I’m afraid I can’t help you with this.”
