Chapter 0671
Chapter 0671
As Suzy had suspected, Elliot’s disappearance was indeed connected to members of his gang.
Reviewing additional surveillance footage, they identified someone from the gang appearing at the hospital before Elliot went missing.
It was only a single instance, but it was enough to raise suspicions.
The hospital was thousands of miles from their base, and this person’s presence here was highly unusual- especially during Elliot’s stay at the hospital.
Allen quickly brought the footage to Suzy, who recognized the person almost immediately.
“It’s her,” Suzy said, narrowing her eyes.
“That woman’s name is Aruna. I met her back when I first went to the lawless zone where Elliot was.
“She was introduced by a man named Barret, who mentioned she had a husband and a son and was a local.
“Even back then, I had a feeling she was someone with a story to tell. Looks like I wasn’t wrong.”
Allen nodded, his expression grim. “So, you were right. Elliot’s disappearance is tied to someone in his gang, working with whoever has been targeting him.”
Suzy’s brows furrowed slightly. “Or perhaps the one targeting Elliot has been by his side all along.”
“By his side all along?” Allen’s expression darkened as he considered it. “Are you saying that for the past three years, Elliot becoming the gang leader was all part of their plan?”
Suzy let out a soft, humorless laugh. “Do you really think it’s likely that someone with amnesia would just stumble into becoming the leader of a gang by chance?”
“True,” Allen admitted.
“And he was just a young guy barely out of his teens at the time. So, someone must have deliberately orchestrated it.
“But why would they go to such lengths to make him the leader of a gang? What were they after?”
Suzy’s gaze turned cold. “That’s something we’ll need to ask them directly once we find them.”
With this lead in hand, Suzy instructed her team to discreetly track Aruna.
Although it would have been easier to capture her immediately, Suzy feared alarming their enemy. If Aruna was part of a larger plan, acting too soon might put Elliot in greater danger.
Then again, Suzy reasoned, they likely wouldn’t harm Elliot–not yet.
After all, whoever was behind this had kept him alive and well for the past three years.
Whatever their intentions, they needed him for something.
ル
It wasn’t just Allen who was curious, Suzy found herself wondering the same thing. If the enemy’s ultimate goal was to take Elliot’s life, why had they refrained from acting during those three years?
Why had things only started to fall apart after she and Elliot reunited? Could her earlier suspicion be correct–that the true target was her?
If that were true, it meant everything Elliot had endured over the past three years was because of her.

The thought filled Suzy with guilt, fueling her determination to find him as quickly as possible.
After several days of tracking Aruna, Allen finally reported back. “That woman, Aruna, doesn’t seem to be acting suspiciously.
The day she went to the hospital, it wasn’t to see Elliot. She was there for her own medical treatment.
“I’ve been following her closely, and she’s gone back to the hospital a couple of times. She’s seriously ill. This is her medical file.”
Suzy took the file from Allen and opened it, her eyes scanning the pages. “Cancer?”
“Yes,” Allen confirmed.
“I even spoke to her primary doctor. It seems legitimate. She also has relatives in the area and has been staying with them these past few days.
“Based on everything I’ve seen, I don’t think she has anything to do with Elliot’s disappearance.”
Suzy gave him a skeptical look. “It’s too early to make that conclusion.”
She wasn’t ready to let her guard down. If Aruna was truly terminally ill, Suzy needed to confirm it herself. If it turned out to be a facade, she’d have her answer soon enough.
