Suzy arrived at the hospital Desmond had mentioned and immediately saw Dylan lying on the hospital bed. His exposed skin was covered in red, swollen rashes–his face, arms, neck–every visible area looked inflamed and alarming.
The moment Dylan saw Suzy, he frowned and turned to Linda. “Didn’t I tell you not to call her?”
“Mr. Dylan, look at you! I was afraid something might happen to you, so I called Mrs. Wright…” Linda said, guilt written all over her face.
Turning to Suzy, she added tearfully, “Mrs. Wright, this is all my fault. I just wanted to help Mr. Wright, but I never thought things would turn out like this. If anything happens to him, I wouldn’t be able to atone for it even if I died a thousand times!”
Clearly overwhelmed, Linda started crying as she spoke.
Suzy quickly stepped in to calm her down. “It’s alright Linda. Please step outside for now. I’ll check on him properly.”
Linda nodded, her face still pale. “Please, Mrs. Wright do your best to save him. If anything happens, I don’t know how I’ll face Grace!”
“I’ll do my best.”
Once Linda left the room, Suzy immediately took Dylan’s pulse. Her expression darkened as she assessed his condition.
Dylan noticed the change in her expression and frowned deeply. “What is it?”
Suzy glanced at him. “It’s nothing serious. I’ll give you another pill shortly. It’ll make you feel very sleepy, and the effects will last for a while. Do you have anything important to do tomorrow?”
“No.”
“Good.”
Suzy administered the pill, and within minutes, Dylan felt a wave of exhaustion wash over him. “Go ahead and sleep,” Suzy said softly. “You’ll feel better when you wake up.‘
Dylan nodded before drifting into a deep sleep.
Once he was asleep, Suzy stepped outside and addressed Linda, who had been anxiously waiting.” Linda, where did you buy that medicine?”
“The pharmacy near the family estate. Why? Is something wrong with it?” Linda asked nervously.
Suzy’s expression was complicated, but she didn’t reveal the full truth. “It’s nothing. The medicine might have been expired, which could explain his reaction.”
Hearing this, Linda’s anxiety increased. “Expired? Will it harm him?”
Suzy reassured her with a calm tone. “Don’t worry. I’ve taken care of it. He just needs rest, and he’ll recover soon.”

“It won’t,” Suzy reassured her. “Expired medicine generally just loses its potency. Besides, he didn’t take much.”
“Really?” Linda still looked uneasy. “Mrs. Wright, you’re not lying to me, are you?”
“Do you really think I’d lie to you, Linda?” Suzy asked with a faint smile.
“No, no, of course not! I’m just worried about Mr. Wright. You don’t know how much he was suffering before we got to the hospital. It looked like he could barely breathe.
“I told him to call you, but he wouldn’t. I think he was afraid you’d think he was trying to pull some trick. So even though he was in agony, he refused to make the call. I had no choice but to call Desmond to reach you.”
Suzy was speechless.
Dylan’s hesitation wasn’t unfounded. Before coming here, Suzy had indeed suspected he might be faking the situation. It wasn’t until she checked his pulse that her doubts disappeared.
Because what he had taken wasn’t a simple aphrodisiac–it was Scarlet Veil.
With both Charlotte and Claude dead, who could still have access to such a dangerous substance?
After dropping Linda back at the Wright estate, Suzy made a detour on her way home and stopped at the 24–hour pharmacy where the medicine had been purchased.
The staff on duty was a young woman in her twenties. As soon as she saw Suzy enter, she approached enthusiastically. “Good evening, miss! Is there something I can help you with?”
Suzy asked directly, “Have you been on duty here all evening?”
