He was a servant of the underworld–of course, he had a way.
“I’ve already told you, begging me won’t help. I’m just doing my job. I don’t have any real authority. Instead of pleading with me, you’d be better off sending a dream to the person you owe. Tell her everything she wants to know. If she reunites with her father, maybe, just maybe, your sins will be lessened.”
“A dream?” George asked, his voice trembling.
“Exactly. Now that you’re dead, the only way to communicate with someone from your past life is through a dream. It’s likely your one and only shot at saving yourself.

George hurriedly asked, “How do I send a dream?”
“It’s simple. I’ll take you to a room. Whatever you want to say, just say it. She’ll hear it.”
He led George to a room shrouded in white mist, ethereal and surreal as if it were pulled straight from a dream.
“This is her dream,” the figure explained. “Say whatever you need to say.”
George hesitated for a moment before finally speaking. “Suzy, it’s me, George. You’ve been desperate to know your father’s whereabouts, haven’t you? Well, I’m telling you now… I don’t actually know where he is.”
The man beside him froze, his composure breaking. “What?! After all this, that’s your answer?”
George looked panicked. “I’m telling the truth! I really don’t know where he is! At first, yes, I was the one who hid him. But just before you all found me, he vanished without a trace.
“I went to Tanya for help because I needed the Goodwin family’s resources to search for him. I couldn’t do it on my own!”
Outside the surveillance room, Suzy listened to the exchange, her brow furrowing tightly. “Judging by his microexpressions, he’s telling the truth.”
Allen, standing next to her, looked equally frustrated. “So, after everything we’ve done, it was all for nothing? This bastard! If we’d known earlier, I would’ve sent him to the afterlife ages ago!”

If even George couldn’t locate him, then whoever had hidden her father again wasn’t connected to him.
Could it be that Charlotte had other allies in this world?
To Suzy, it felt like an endless labyrinth. Each time she thought she was nearing the exit, she’d turn a corner only to find herself in another dead end.
“Boss, don’t lose hope. You’ll find him one day,” Allen said, though his tone lacked conviction.
Even he didn’t fully believe his own words.
It had been so long–failure after failure. The endless cycle of disappointment was exhausting. Thankfully, their boss was Suzy; anyone else might have broken under the weight long ago.
But even Suzy’s strength was only surface–deep. Deep down, she was nearing her limit.
Each time, it was the same result. She just wanted to reunite with her father–why was it so impossibly difficult?
Hearing there was no progress yet again, Dylan came immediately. The image of Suzy breaking down in tears the last time was forever etched in his memory. He knew she had always been pretending to be strong.
Meanwhile, Elliot, who had narrowly avoided being shipped off to South Allica, had been keeping a low profile ever since. He knew Suzy wouldn’t let him off easily after that night. Still, despite his efforts to remain inconspicuous, he never stopped watching Suzy from the shadows, carefully observing her every move.
For Elliot, giving up on Suzy was never an option. As long as she remained unmarried, he believed he still had a chance.
When he heard Suzy had once again come up empty–handed in her search, he, too, rushed over to offer his support.
