“She doesn’t deserve to be called a mother. Just thinking of having someone like her as my mother makes me sick!” Tanya’s voice trembled with unrestrained anger.
Whenever Charlotte was mentioned, Tanya couldn’t keep her emotions in check. “If we could choose our parents, I’d rather be an orphan!”
“Shut up!” The man behind her exploded with fury, his grip tightening even further. “If you dare say one more bad thing about my master, I’ll strangle you right now!”
“Go ahead!” Tanya’s defiant laugh was full of disdain. “You think I’m afraid of you? If it weren’t for your threats against my grandfather and father, I wouldn’t even give you the time of day.”
Suzy silently observed the exchange, her eyes narrowing slightly. So that was what it was. She’d suspected Tanya had a reason for keeping quiet, but now it was clear that she’d been protecting her family.
Tanya might have made some questionable choices in the past, but the person standing before Suzy now was just a girl trying to shield the ones she loved.
Having learned enough, Suzy’s gaze sharpened. While Tanya and the man were arguing, she swiftly drew two silver needles from her pocket and flicked them with precision.
The needles struck the man’s wrist, sending a sharp pain coursing through his arm. With a cry, his grip on Tanya loosened.
Seizing the moment, Tanya darted away, leaving the man fully exposed under Suzy’s piercing
gaze.
It was a face she didn’t recognize at first.
Wait. No. The longer she stared, the more familiar he seemed.
“You’re Mr. Mason’s son, aren’t you?” Suzy asked, her voice steady but laced with disdain.
The man froze, clearly surprised she had identified him. “You still remember my father?”
“How could I forget? Mr. Mason dedicated his entire life to our family, only to end up dead and discarded like trash…” Her brows furrowed deeply. “If I’m not mistaken, your name is George Mason. Your father was killed because of Charlotte, and yet you’re still serving her?”
“My father wasn’t killed by the master!” George shot back, his voice trembling with anger. “It was your family who destroyed him! Your philandering father couldn’t even spare his own adopted sister. She wasn’t related by blood, but he raised her–watched her grow up–and he still did those things to her!”
“Did Charlotte tell you this?” Tanya let out a bitter laugh. “She’s truly a master at deceiving men. Whether it’s my father or you, she’s used the same pathetic excuses and managed to fool you both for years. Not many women can pull that off.”

“My master would never lie to me!” George refused to believe them. “You’re the liars, smearing her name just to get me to reveal the whereabouts of that Wright man!”
Suzy’s eyes gleamed sharply. “You’ve known the truth all along. You’re just lying to yourself because you can’t face the fact that you stood by and let your father die for a woman who betrayed you.”
“No… that’s not true…” George’s voice wavered, his composure crumbling further.
“You sacrificed everything for a woman who fed you nothing but lies. And if she truly cared about you,
would she have borne another man’s child? That child is standing right in front of
you.”
“Aaah!” George let out an anguished cry. “She lied to me… she lied!”
“So, George, stop aiding her wickedness. Tell me, where is my father? Where have you hidden him?”
