Suzy studied Tanya’s pale face and trembling hands. There was truth in her words. If she truly had no fear of death, what reason would she have to lie? Unless the person she was protecting held something over her, something worse than death.
Seeing Tanya’s fragile emotional state, Suzy decided not to press further.
She smoothed her expression, replacing suspicion with a calm and understanding demeanor. ” Fine, Tanya. For Mr. Martin’s sake, I’ll trust you this once.

Suzy noticed Tanya’s hesitation but pretended not to. Keeping her tone light, she said, “Don’t overthink it. Get some rest. Once you’re fully recovered, I’ll send you back home.”
“You’re sending me back?”
“Of course,” Suzy replied with a raised brow. “You claim you don’t know anything, so keeping

here is just a waste of my resources. Unless you’d prefer to stay? But in that case, you’d need to cover your own living expenses.”
The playful comment caught Tanya off guard, and she couldn’t help but laugh. “You’re seriously going to charge me rent? You’ve got so much money already!”
“Of course, I care,” Suzy said, feigning indignation. “Doesn’t matter how much money I have -I earned it myself, and earning money isn’t easy! I’m not running a charity, you know.”
She smiled teasingly before turning serious again. “It’s getting late. Get some rest. If you need anything, just call me.”
After Suzy left, Tanya stared at the fruit knife in her hand. Slowly, she walked over to the bed and returned it to the fruit bowl on the bedside table.

Just as Tanya had anticipated, the man grew desperate. On a stormy night, he slipped in to confront her.
“Tanya, if you don’t want those two old fools to get hurt, you’d better keep your distance from Suzy!”
“And how should she do that?” Suzy’s voice suddenly cut through the darkness. “You’re awfully controlling, aren’t you? What we do is none of your business.”
“Damn it!”
The man immediately realized he’d fallen into a trap and bolted for the door.
Suzy sneered. “You’ve come this far. How could you leave without having a cup of tea?”
